The Democratic party is poised to lose the presidential election to an absolute madman who openly promises to shred the constitution and spend all of his energy seeking revenge on his real and imagined enemies. It may not be 100% the Dem's fault (I agree with JVL that voters are the problem), but it doesn't clear the bar of "in great shape".

I agree, with one major caveat. Something as yet unseen, like an al-Qaeda or ISIS terror attack, could upset the whole apple cart.
I'm also concerned about Republican election shenanigans.
