Charlie, Christie’s explanation about helping Trump in 2016, while flawed, might be understandable. But after watching 4 years of that, he was STILL helping him win in 2020. So excuse me while I don’t take his word on having learned his lesson with Trump.

I guess I agree with your first point. But I knew in 2015 (actually long before that) the type of person Trump is, i.e. that he is an ignorant, fraudster, failed businessman, someone I wouldn't hire to be a night manager at a 7/11. Christie was in an even better position than me to know Trump's flaws in 2016 but he backed him, nonetheless. I am a lifelong conservative Republican, and I was never tempted for one minute to step foot on the Trump train. It is hard for me to believe Christie didn't know Trump's flaws from the beginning.
Paul, I grew up in NY in the 90s, so yes a lot of us knew and Christie should have known better. But he’s still an ideologue so I can understand to a certain extent that Trump could be malleable and vote for him instead of Clinton, but not him over Biden. Not after witnessing his first administration. That vote undercuts a big part of Christie’s argument on the podcast yesterday.

Completely agree with that.
Christie doesn’t believe in infrastructure spending. People never learn.
Just look at the Hudson rail tunnel.
