Trump has never been solely responsible for where we find ourselves. The stage was set by the people like Pat Buchanan, Newt Gingrich and the Koch brothers. Rupert Murdock and his media empire also contributes massively. Trump was the effective tool that brought all of this together, but still could not have done it without a supporting cast. His enablers will bear the consequences of what comes. How can we hate the everyday American people that have been taken advantage of by this indoctrination. This has happened for thousands of years. It is the leaders that are to be blamed. The Republican Party has already ceased to exist. It is the Trump party, and only has Trump supporters left in it. All others have been pushed aside. Explain to me what it means when 25 states with formerly Republican governors sign on to support Texas in defying their own conservative Supreme Court they worked so hard to obtain. Where does this end?
I appreciate what and how you wrote what you wrote. I'm in Texas. What's your favorite idea for how an accomplished professional can make a difference to strengthen our democracy - to reach the "people (who) have been taken advantage of by this indoctrination".
I am a member of an old man’s discussion group trying to address that very answer. We have been meeting for almost 3 years, and still struggle trying to speak even to family members about politics. Most everyone are still centrist Republicans, myself more a centrist Democrat - referring to myself as independent. Living in Indiana that means I am considered leftist. We have lost friends and golf partners over politics, and wanted to try to develop civil discourse that could be used with others. Successful in our group, but not really outside.
The major takeaway is that the media that people watch and listen to has driven all of us apart. We think that Rush Limbaugh and his type have been a cancer in our civic body. However even he often brought up some views worth considering.

We are still looking for good answers.
