Sometimes I think I’m going to scream if I read one more unattributed quote from some Trump “advisor” who supposedly counseled him not to meet with some awful person, as if that’s really not who Trump is. These advisors seem to want people to believe that they are somehow honorable and that Trump is not a racist or anti-Semite or authoritarian but that he just ends up consorting with these people by accident. Oh please. These people are enablers. They are as guilty of trying to destroy our democracy as Trump is.
They want it both ways. They want to curry favor with the boss by doing his bidding but also have a visible off ramp to others for if and when Trumpism hits its expiration date. The medical term for that is "an desunt spinae" -- lack of backbone.
Yes, I loved Trump’s former ambassador to Israel criticizing the dinner with Nazis and saying Trump is better than that. No, he’s not.
Also, good spot for a reminder that Elise Stefanik endorsed Trump’s 2024 re-election immediately on the heels of the midterms. Thanks fellow upstate NYers. 👏

Which is ridiculous. The secret service vets every person who meets with the president. Trump knows exactly who is having dinner with.
" . . . as if that’s really not who Trump is."
I keep coming back to Maya Angelou, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."
Yes. Thank you for stating this so clearly!
