At the end of the day, Americans are people just like everyone else in the world, which means they have flaws in their thinking and their characters just like everyone else. It also means they can be susceptible to the likes of Trump. Don't take my word for it. David French, Russell Moore, and Peter Wehner have all been on Charlie's podcast talking about the moral degradation of ostensible Christians who've been lured in by Trump.

I live in a blue region, and although the observations I'm about to share are anecdotal, I can say we're not totally immune to it. A few years back, I was in a supermarket parking lot and saw a guy driving a Mercedes with a Trump presidential logo that took up the entire hood of his car. If you drive through the more rural areas around here, you are guaranteed to see a run down house with a Trump and/or MAGA flag. I never saw that sort of thing with Bush 41 or 43, or Clinton and Obama. What's scary about the Trump veneration is a) these people vote and b) they're never going away.
