Lee refusing to support Romney when he ran in 2018 would be enough to make returning the non-favor understandable. Lee signing on to the coup attempt, boosting crackpots like Powell and Eastman, and with a straight face pretending Trump was on some sort of noble crusade makes it glaringly obvious why Romney wouldn't and shouldn't endorse Lee. It makes perfect sense from any angle, including politically. Conservatives still wont let go of performatively (and dangerously) pandering to election deniers-- this is what's surprising, not that Romney won't endorse someone with an R next to his name who'd prefer to ride Trump's bruised ego in to oblivion than rehabilitate their party.
"pretending Trump was on some sort of noble crusade"--The most bizarre notion in modern politics is the idea that Trump is a truth-teller who is valiantly devoted to exposing and rooting out "corruption." Yet there are people smart enough to know better who sold themselves on that notion.
Or at least, they see Trump as very useful in advancing their goals and fighting their political enemies -- and therefore anything that hurts or displeases him must be corrupt. If he claims he was defrauded out of reelection, it must be so, and whoever doesn't accept his self-serving tale is corrupt. If he's illegally retaining classified documents and resisting lawful requests to hand over all of them then the people trying to get the documents returned to their rightful owner are corrupt. Because Donald Trump cannot be corrupt, you cannot oppose Donald Trump unless you are corrupt.
I today read a focus group article on NYT with Hispanics and the 22 year old from FL said trump and the R party are honest. And still I hear/read trump is a good businessman. What good businessman overcharges his own government for Secret Service agents to protect him and his family?! Blah, blah... people are brainwashed and uninformed. I don't know how we solve it.

The mass delusion is really astonishing.

We need more fluoride in the water.
Lol. Sure wish there was something we could put in the water to get people back to actual reality instead of alternative facts land.
