It seems wrong to talk about anything but American mass murder right now. There has been a lot of talk about American decadence. Could anything be more decadent than accepting with a shrug the slaughter of children? And accepting racially motivated terror?

Decadence sliding into evil? Instead of shrugging Ted Cruz suggested the 1 door solution to our country's deaths by military, pro-life weapons.

The US accepted the murder of Native American children and the racially motivated terrors of slavery and Jim Crow, so how are we suddenly decadent?

Good question. I have trouble with the word "decadent" being used to describe contemporary American society. It implies we have descended from a prior "higher" moral position, and I doubt we as a nation deserve to look back at ever having reached such a position. Besides, it also rings of the "Make America Great Again" crowd. You know, before we became "decadent."
