I've been saying all along that Joe Biden's response to all of the "Biden crime family" allegations should be just one blunt demand, repeated over and over for impact:
"Play the tapes."
In this political high-stakes card game, call their bluff. Call BS on their accusations. Force their hand. Back them into a corner by having to live with their own words. We all know that MAGA, and Trump in particular, thrive on sensationalism over substance. It is the Art of the Lie. The best way to pop their balloon is to show them for what they are to all the world and embarrass them directly and openly. Like all bullies, they prey on weakness and slink away from a challenge. The show of strength by Biden should be more than sufficient to put them in their place, and to reassert his own standing.
A Himalayan range of damning evidence comes out against Trump, and the MAGA response is: "They are always out to get Trump!"
The supposed evidence behind an allegation against Biden keeps evaporating, and the MAGA response is: "This just proves how sinister the Deep State is!"
Maybe someone could put up a bunch of money and pledge to donate it to the charity of Rep. Comer's choice if they can produce the tapes and play them publicly.
It is the mature adult response, to be sure, but it also is too subtle for many people and for the media, with the PR required to counter MAGA bluster. Make them own it. Better to have Trump/MAGA visibly eat their own words and have the tape loop of it roll continuously, well into 2024.
We won't convert the MAGAts. That's a given. But, in angling for the middle ground voters and remaining moderate right, that endless tape loop of them owning their baseless allegations and outright lies stands to help Biden immensely in 2024, not to mention all the many down-ballot candidates in swing states whose own elections in the bigger picture are no less vital to our interests.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but it is a very fine line between denying and protesting too much. Plus the more he talks about these nonexistent tapes and Hunter the more chances that gives the press to talk about it. The republicans have already shot themselves in the foot twice over these tapes, especially since the source is now "dead" according to Rudy.
