My electric VW ID4 cost waaaaay less than a club cab pick up truck and is far cheaper to drive.

Remember all the anger and suffering in 2010 when people were "forced" to use more efficient, longer-lived lightbulbs?

Those bulbs put out awful quality light. LED bulbs put out even worse quality light no matter what style you buy. The lightbulb thing is a great example of why "eat your peas" liberalism is the worst flavor of liberalism. The only good thing about the bulbs we're forced to buy now is that they last an incredibly long time which negates their high price.

The new "hybrid" incandescents use exactly the same filament material, but encase a slightly thicker filament in a glass tube. The light is indistinguishable from the old incandescent bulbs. Compact fluorescent (curly) bulbs put out light with different colors, however, the higher quality bulbs are pretty good — some of the cheapos were awful — and are even more efficient. LED bulbs are by far the most efficient and come in a wide array of light "temperatures" now which do a pretty good job of mimicking incandescent light (look for "warm white"), Philips and Cree are good quality.

Just for historical reference, the light bulb efficiency bill was bipartisan and signed into law by GWB although Rush Limbaugh liked to blame it on Obama.

I installed all LED lights in my house in December 2012. I changed my first light bulb — in a fixture that is used nightly — this summer.

There are people who drive them because they need a truck. Most people drive them because "my truck looks sick af." My Silverado that is rusting away gets used when I need to haul stone or pull a trailer, when the snow plows haven't been out yet or I'm heading to where 4WD will keep me from being the subject of a "person disappeared with no trace" article, or when I'm waiting for a part to my Rabbit to arrive. Otherwise it's a gas hog, especially driving from stop light to stop light.

Agree! I live in suburban Southern California and every other vehicle is a huge club cab pick up, often driven by a young man. Aggressively.
