Oh man, there is a lot to unpack here.

1) Biden needs to be more Clinton (Bill) and less Obama here and use his bully pulpit to point out that a big part of the problem is that consumers are being gouged by corporations. (It would help if he then offered some policy solutions to that.) I have long believed that fuel prices often go up under Democrats precisely because energy companies have a tantrum and try to create a self-fulfilling prophecy of "see you backed the wrong guy, and now things are getting worse."

2) What is true - and I say this as a college-educated Biden voter - is that my grocery and fuel bills aren't getting cheaper, and, yes, I'd like to see something done about it. I don't lay the blame at the feet of the Biden Administration, but could they be doing more/appear to be doing more? I think so.

3) Some working class voters turned against the Democrats because of racial issues. It may elitist, but it's also true to say that.

Joe I would like to respond to your points.

1. The bully pulpit doesn’t work anymore. Periodically I listen to pod save america partially because they can be funny and partially because it’s rank punditry at its finest (lots of humor). These are all ex high level staff in the Obama administration. Head of comms, head of the campaign (after axelrod left), nsa, etc. they used the bully pulpit a lot in the first 3 years of administration with the expectation that they could use obama’s ability as a gr3at orator). They measured all the results and stopped using it because it didn’t work. There are a variety of reasons for this but (1) the administration can only really use it 2x a year, (2) not all networks cover it, (3) consuming media changed drastically (more internet and less tv news), etc. by the end of the administration they actually found it counterproductive. Finally, this is my view now, there is no hope for Biden who is damn boring can breakthrough when trump, the gop, and congress is so fricking crazy. I have been testing this the last week with Biden traveling for 5 straight days and then this week with the UN speeches. He is giving speeches every single day. I dvred msnbc, cbs, fox, and cnn prime time news hour. They all had basically 4 segments per episode. They covered the docs case in Florida, the impeachment inquiry, government shutdown and one segment on biden’s UN’s speech. Except for fox which covered crazy stuff and no Biden UN speech.

2. Honestly there isn’t much the president can do on inflation other than the fed increasing interest rates.

3. Yep. Lots of people care about culture than economics
