“'It’s absolutely ridiculous and laughable to even try to tell the American people that Ukraine will ever pay us back!' Greene tweeted yesterday."
Thank you for saying it out loud. The whole Ukraine experience is TRANSACTIONAL in her eyes. It's about the cash. It's about having balanced ledgers. It's about financial success and making the investors happy. Never let it be said that the GOP has lost its way entirely on putting a dollar sign on anything and everything. While some of us feel empathy and a sense of shared humanity, she says come with the cash or else. Well played, if you're into picking wings off of flies and rooting for pain and suffering.
I have some questions, Ms. Greene. (I use Ms. rather loosely here, in no way indicating respect.)
Do you consider how many things you buy not because you might get paid back someday, rather because it stands to spare you worse hardship later on? I assume Greene does not have, for example, homeowner's or auto insurance, since she may never need it. What happens, then, when you do?
What value do you place upon nonmonetary assets, such as goodwill, reputation, trust, reliability, and confidence that you stand behind your word in the eyes of others? If you violate those in the name of financial success, how will you handle it when others bail out on us when we need them, potentially for the same reason and because we set that precedent? (September 11 comes to mind.)
Will Putin pay you back on the investment you are making in him, his regime, and the free hand that you are offering him in Europe? If so, how, and in what "currency"? What leads you to believe that Putin ever will have our best interests at heart when push comes to shove, there or elsewhere?
There is more, but you can fill in the blanks as well as I can. Feel free to do so. Bottom line: I continue to be amazed that the American people willingly choose to send such a concentrated mass of stupidity to Washington to do our business. The lack of critical thinking skills is appalling and seemingly on par with what a high school sophomore would offer. Yet it is good enough for those who lack enough ambition to step away from their tribe and think, learn, and understand. If this is a sign of the future, I'm looking to hitch a ride to a better destination. It certainly is not what the Greatest Nation On Earth is capable of in its finest moments.
I agree. This latest batch of performance artists pretending to be legislators are unbelievable. Greene probaly can't find Ukraine on a Map. She is Trump's creature and he is owned Putin. Putin wants Ukraine. End of story.
They all came from the deepest swamp and trailer trash. Not one brain cell. Just greed and lust for power in the hands of the ignorant. Exactly the type of people Trump wants around him. MTG et al are looking forward to become the Russian style oligarchs.
Not swamp in her case. Her voters are the North Georgia woods. But in nearly every state in this country, there's an unfathomable lack of interest from rural people in events outside their immediate area. The ignorance is what allows them to believe whatever propagandists dish out. I honestly don't think this rural bias and ignorance will ever decrease. Good people, but completely lost in their inaccurate understanding of the bigger world. (and by good people, I obviously don't include ambitious morons like Greene who try and profit from their ignorance and resulting prejudices)
Is it only rural people who are ignorant? I find urban people can be myopic... maybe that was is a better word? I grew up in a rural area and have lived in a number of US cities and one city abroad but I live in a rural area again. My work requires me to be aware of international issues but many of my neighbors are trades people with different expertise and a seriously impacted by state/US regulations. We can learn from each other if we can keep dialogue open.
Representative government means we end up with Cori Bush and MTG in some places, Even if we improve the primary process to make it less partisan.
Of course. I was generalizing about the vast majority of MAGAcentrics being distributed in overwhelmingly whte rural areas throughout the whole country. Trying to explain the MAGA phenomenon. There are dumb or ignorant people everywhere. It's the MAGA areas that dominate the House and threaten to make trump president.
How much Russian money is supporting MTG? Otherwise, it is impossible to explain what she is for or against, as she just likes to scream against everything but guns. But why do I expect a reason?

Agreed with everything. As for Calling MTG Ms. , I can think of a few other words instead of Ms. .But I try to reframe from that language.

She is a slave to Trump. If tells here jump, she says how high and then thanks him.
It is all about performance and attention.Same with the chaos caucus.Governance is not part of the package.
Never discount the stupidity reason. She is a profoundly dumb woman.
High school sophomore libelz!
Agree. They have worn down the Russia army, spending their lives. This is an incalculable benefit to us.
They're also teaching us lessons about modern warfare that would definitely have cost US lives to learn somewhere down the line.
