Sadly, tipping is now seen as borderline mandatory in light of the low wages paid to some service workers. In reality, tipping is one of the few forms of income today based solely on ability, or at least it once was.
This sounds sorta biblical — to whom much is given, much will be expected, and later on, Jesus, that raving socialist, said we will be judged on how much we give to the poor, the sick, and the stranger.
