SCOTUS needs at least 13 judges, one per appellate district. There are 10,000 cases a year (I think that's fairly accurate) that go up to SCOTUS and they typically take 300 or fewer a year. And the type of cases that can go to them are limited to begin with. So it isn't sustainable. And there need to be rules so one moron cannot push through three lifetime judges, fit or unfit.
OK, thank you. All good info. Re term limits for SC justices, the National Constitution Center, after convening Constitutional scholars from across the political spectrum, is proposing such an amendment to the Constitution to the Congress. See https://constitutioncenter.org/media/files/The_Proposed_Amendments_AMENDMENTS.pdf
It doesn't include 13 justices or limits on a POTUS final year, but that's no reason to not get behind this.
Ah, at the level of state governments, you are right. But I thought we were talking about the SCOTUS. To tip the balance there will take a long time.
Thx for the Fortune article. Will read.
No I am not playing a game. I'm trying to understand what you are saying.
Question: How will the Dem majority in both chambers fix SCOTUS?
