I'm not finding in this story where it says the people who were angry at Biden over abetting genocide support Hamas. Or are you just saying that the people of Gaza idiots?
They know Hamas is responsible for most of the evils happening in Gaza. Guess who broke a cease fire in effect on 10/7? And brought innocent hostages - and WAR - directly TO Gaza? And who has taken millions in aid meant for their people & instead used it to build hundreds of miles of terror tunnels with entrances in schools & hospitals?
As far as I’m concerned, Hamas and the Israeli right have a great deal in common: both are authoritarian, theocratic, corrupt, and violent; neither care one bit about the Palestinians who live in Gaza. What is happening there is appalling, and I’m not laying the complete or even most blame on Hamas even if they have culpability and agency.
None of this means that the protests weren’t botched. The activists overestimated their strength which caused them to set the wrong goal which led to counterproductive tactics. If this article is any guide, they haven’t learned a thing and will continue down a road that leads nowhere.
I’m saying they elected Hamas & ever since, Hamas has been systematically endangering them & destroying everything that would make their lives better. Also that voting against (not voting for) Biden & Harris & encouraging others to do the same is shooting themselves in the foot, which they seem to excel at. They think F47 is going to be better for Muslim Americans?? Utter stupidity.
You know nothing of the situation. Less than half of Gazans in 2006 voted for Hamas in the first election (and it was plurality voting) but, like Trump, those in power took away any ability to vote them out. 2006 was the last election. In addition, more than half of the current population was too young to vote. https://www.yahoo.com/news/explainer-hamas-elected-majority-palestinians-215700876.html
So, by your logic you are responsible for Trump, just like the Palastinians in Gaza are responsible for Hamas.
You still didn’t get my point, nor did you read the article I posted. Your comment about Palestinians and assuming everyone who didn’t vote because of Gaza must be, “shooting themselves in the foot, which they seem to excel at” is, frankly, racist. There were plenty of stupid, self absorbed white folks who were supposedly “making a statement” by not voting in “solidarity” with the Palestinians. I’ve been arguing and speaking against the treatment of Palestinians by the right wing Israelis since the 80s (I have Jewish and Palestinian family members)—because I have been in civil and human rights movements since the 60s.
Good for you for what you did to try and prevent Trump’s re-election. But, that doesn’t give you the right to make uniformed and insulting comments.
I agree that not voting for Harris was an EXTREMELY bad call.
Given your response, it sounds like you are saying that the people of Gaza are idiots. Perhaps this is so...perhaps being starved, and humiliated, and having your medics, journalists, and children shot during peaceful protests against these things (as Israeli snipers did in 2019) makes people make poor strategic decisions.
More than half of the people in Palestine in 2023 were below the age of 18 (the last election was in 2006)...they didn't vote for Hamas. In Gaza, Hamas only won the northern 2 districts (there are 5 total) and had to fight a civil war to take control. All those other people didn't vote for Hamas. Do those people deserve genocide, or is it just the small subset of people who voted for Hamas 19 years ago who deserve genociding?
Hamas has been bad for Palestine. Also, Israel has been systematically endangering and hurting people in Gaza, especially since 2006.
"having your medics, journalists, and children shot during peaceful protests against these things (as Israeli snipers did in 2019)"
Complete nonsense. The protests in 2019 had peaceful elements, but those peaceful elements were strategic camouflage for those intent on breaching the border with less than peaceful aims. The snipers targeted known Hamas and Islamic Jihad affiliates.
One thing that is known is that Hamas sent messages during those demonstrations that they should not let their faces be visible to Israeli surveillance and thereby hinder the IDF's efforts to target them. If the IDF's snipers were randomly selecting targets in the crowds, why would Hamas think that that is an effective force protection tactic?
They are idiots. Hamas is the destroyer of their own people & they still support them!!
I'm not finding in this story where it says the people who were angry at Biden over abetting genocide support Hamas. Or are you just saying that the people of Gaza idiots?
If the protesters believed that what is happening in Gaza is genocide, they’d still be protesting.
You think so?
Why?
Hey, did you know none other than The Bukwark’s Bill Kristol was personally involved in “pushing” Harvard to “crack down” on student protestors there?

The last time elections were held was in 2006 and given the majority being on the younger side, it’s not quite accurate to say they voted for it.

I voted AGAINST rump, and volunteered against him, and donated money against him, so your “logic” is illogical.

Lucky you got to vote, I suppose

Sure. The 35 children killed were Hamas affiliates.
