I have nothing but pure contempt for these extremists, and that's what they are - extremists. My wife and I went to the culminating Kamala Harris rally in DC just a few days before the November election. We were unable to get seats inside the event, so we went to the overflow area near the Washington Monument on the mall. The Harris Campaign set up a big jumbo-tron screen for the overflow to watch the event, and we couldn't hear a damn thing because there were about 100-150 Pro-Palestinian protestors raising hell in front of the big screen. They were vulgar, hateful, and absolutely disrespectful of the audience trying to watch the event. Any last drop of sentiment I may have had for their cause completely evaporated. The entire movement can kiss my *ss and I hope they get everything they work for, which is absolutely nothing. If they want to fight like extremists, they can always join the movement in Gaza.
In the September 2023 Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research poll, most Palestinians felt safe in their neighborhoods (76%). A minority mentioned problems, the most cited being the economy (29%), political instability (22%) and political corruption (18%); only 13% cited Israel. One week before the war, Palestinians were very critical of Hamas, as they have been in previous polls, with 72% considering Hamas corrupt. Only 34% said they would vote for Hamas in an election. After the start of the war, most Palestinians had a favorable view of Hamas and 54% preferred Hamas to rule Palestine after the war. The majority continued to view Hamas favorably in March, June and September (63%, 61%, and 58%, respectively). Palestinians asked whether they supported HamasтАЩs attack on Israel, given the subsequent retaliation, supported the attack (72% in December, 71% in March 67% in June, and 54% in September). However, in September 2024, for the first time, the modal response of Gazans was different from those in the West Bank, with only 39% of Gazans and 64% of West Bankers viewing the attack by Hamas as a good decision. So it took massive causalities for Gazans to view starting a war with Israel to be a bad decision. And that has been the pattern for years. Palestinians are openly hostile and critical of Hamas when it's peacetime, but strongly supportive of Hamas whenever Hamas attacks Israel, even when it results in Palestinian deaths.
I was at a rally in Phoenix and they disrupted there too. Completely counterproductive. And letting Trump completely off the hookтАжI just have no words for the stupidity. It takes every ounce of Christian compassion I have for the suffering people of Gaza not to laugh as these activists get exactly what they deserve. This is the same stubborn extremism thatтАЩs kept their counterparts in the Middle East from finding peace for so long. And ironically, IтАЩm one of the people who would otherwise be most sympathetic to their cause. IтАЩve always been very pro-Palestinian. EuropeтАЩs forced establishment of the nation of Israel is the root of the problemтАжbut at some point, you have to find a rational way forward. The extremist leadership will never be able to do this and the people will continue to suffer.
Thank you! Not sure if comforting is the right word to use here, but where in our political dialogue is it ever acknowledged that Europe basically threw refugees onto boats headed for Israel? All of their properties, overtaken by Nazis, remained in non- Jewish hands. When first teaching students about the Holocaust, in the mid 90s, I accidentally discovered there were only 300,000 Jews in Europe ...all of Europe, 50 years after WW2 ended. Today, exactly 80 years since Victory Day, there are still only 1.3 million Jews living in Europe.
If the Holocaust had not occured, experts estimate there would be 35 million Jews worldwide, instead of the current 17.5 million.Germany may have set up antisemitic prevention laws, but right wing groups still remain active. In fact, many Jews who migrated to Israel prior to WW2 left (mostly to the US) because there was no infrastructure. The Zionists were regarded as crackpots and terrorists until they were needed by Europeans to become the rallying cry for the new Exodus narrative to re- establish Israel. The Palestinians were fodder for the grist mill. Many of atrocities visited upon the Holocaust victims were used against the Arabs. I understand why the Palestinians are distrusting and angry, but their history of not compromising has lead their people to disastrous results. My guess is that part of their animosity toward Harris involved her spouse being politically active with Jewish causes. All of this saddens me. Gaza should not have been decimated to pay back Hamas, and it will never be rebuilt for Palestinians with Bibi and Donny conspiring. If the US withdrew its support of Israel today, they would go elsewhere tomorrow for munitions. I know hindsight is 20/ 20, but Arafat should have signed the 2000 Camp David offer, despite its limitations. Palestine might be in a better place today.
The problem is these activists get nothing while the people in Gaza they claim to support get starvation and death. These protestors are awful, entitled and stupid.
Pro-Palestinian activists protested the Dems because they were not happy with the way Israel was conducting the war against Hamas. They voted against the Dems because they didn't think that Biden was doing enough, even though Biden was doing everything possible to bring humanitarian relief and a ceasefire to the conflict.
Meanwhile Trump, the only other option in the election, who took direct actions to support Israel over the Palestinians in his last term in office, gets no protests from pro-Palestinians. After they help him get elected, Trump immediately helps Israel by reinstating arms shipments that Biden had paused and talked about ethnically cleansing Gaza so that global elites can turn it into a Mediterranean playground for the rich. Now the Trump admin is radio silence while Israel continues to terrorize the Palestinians and threatens to move 2 million people into an area that can support 200,000 people. All the while Israel is occupying the rest of Gaza and using starvation as a weapon against the civilian population.
So, are the Palestinians better off now, with Biden/Harris out of office? Did helping defeat Biden/Harris in the election do anything to help end the suffering of the Palestinian People? Did it bring peace to Gaza?
Are the people who protested in the US safe in their homes, well fed, and confident that they'll not suffer consequences for their choice to not support Biden/Harris?
With you ЁЯТп. They are equally complicit as maga; truly Dietrich BonhoefferтАЩs theory clearly describes both. And then to double down in the face of losing our democracy is evil.
The end result of their anger and activism is that even more Palestinians in Gaza will die. In addition, our nation is now subject to a vindictive, petty man in ther Oval Office who has surrounded himself with toadies and eho is wreaking havoc.
Far fewer Palestinians have died since TrumpтАЩs election that if Biden or Harris had won.
But your anonymous framing тАЬhave diedтАЭ is telling. You leave out the 3rd party who is blocking aid and dropping the American bombs from American planes, killing at least 17,000 children.
Why do you even listen to the Bulwark except to troll Americans who are interested in preserving democracy? You want justice for Palestinians? Move to Gaza. I honestly donтАЩt care about your drivel
Exactly! Their cause suffered greatly because they couldnтАЩt see the forest for the trees! Their supreme arrogance wonтАЩt allow them to admit to themselves and others that they really screwed the pooch!
It was therefore never about the Palestinians. But these protesters served their purpose and rather than admit that they were bamboozled, they double down on stupidity
Gee, but the funny thing is they donтАЩt protest the guy who wants to build casinos and hotels over the graves of dead children. So they kinda lose that veneer of holy righteousness
There are so many layers of problems, currently and historically. I sometimes imagine what Gaza would have been like today if they'd agreed to a 2 state solution 25 years ago. Instead, it appears that Israel will take over the entire territory. The Palestinians biggest mistake was to support Hamas after their attack. So many innocent lives are gone , and their country, because they didn't push back on that massacre. Yes, I understand the history of Israel murdering Palestinians, the land grabs, the expansions, etc. But what was Hamas hoping for? Hezbollah helping them out? An eye for an eye left everybody dead.
I can only come up with guesses but itтАЩs hard to believe many of their concerns are and still are genuine when you consider itтАЩs much closer to these guys than is say, Ukraine to us.
Counterpoint- hello extremist troll. If you really believed in the cause, youтАЩd move to Gaza where you could make a difference. But you wonтАЩt because youтАЩre a privileged coward enjoying the freedoms of America. Take a hike. Coward.

The new Useful Idiots for Trump.
Extremists are those who kill 17,000 children.

I often wonder what things would be like if Arafat had signed. The current situation seems so hopeless.
The problem is these activists get nothing while the people in Gaza they claim to support get starvation and death. These protestors are awful, entitled and stupid.
The people who PROTEST the killing of 10s of thousands of people, including 17,000 children are тАЬawful, entitled and stupidтАЭ?
Do you have any words for those doing the killing, or nah?
This reply just validates my post.
