When Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital in February, I had a sense of dread, knowing if he had passed away at that moment it would upset the minimal amount of human decency balance we still left. I was so grateful that the Pope not only hung in there, but returned to the Vatican to depart this earthly plane in such an incredible way. It gave me great peace to know that the Holy Spirit was moving among us. And with Pope Leo's selection, I let out a sigh of relief, witnessing that God has not abandoned us. The fact that everyone talks about his selection on secular terms shows the little regard for what has transpired, not only with Leo's selection but all that has occurred. Thank you, Jim, for your comments, and to JVL, for his piece. I'm a Lutheran PK (preacher's kid), practicing Episcopalian, but more than anything, a person of deep faith with respect for how God moves among all faiths. Will be interested in hearing how my Roman Catholic/ MAGA friends and cousins react to this news. They have been so misled; perhaps this will break through.
