The census of 1900 says that he (grandfather) was a cigar maker and describes both grandparents as black. So they would have been “Creoles of color”. They moved to Chicago between 1910-1912 and apparently began identifying as white then. Wait until MAGA gets that bit of information - he’ll be the “DEI pope”!
