The information is out there, provided by the reporters. If the public doesn't know this, they either just not paying attention (which isn't the fault of journalists), or their partisanship and devotion to Trump won't allow them to admit these things. In other words, they may have convinced themselves that questioning Rs about whether they're abdicating their constitutional duty is futile and unnecessary. Maybe they need to be convinced they're wrong.
