Kind of puts into perspective just how crazy it is to worry so much about progressives renaming schools when you have GOP candidates posting ads about literally killing us in our own homes and state parties writing platforms about wanting to remove voting protections for minorities, putting gay people back in the closet and, oh yeah, seceding from the union.

This article about Texas scared the bejesus out of me. On top of Laura Ingram saying that "everyone knows that the Democrats are real terrorists" this article about how Republicans really feel suggests to me that someone in the GOP has the plans for concentration camps waiting in the wings. I'm afraid if Trump gets elected he'll let the Facsists take over and he'll be counting all the money he can steal from wealthy Democrats.

The Greiten ad destroys the common right -wing propaganda assertion that the real domestic terrorists are Democrats. Their corollary that the the FBI threat assessment identifying right-wing extremists as the major domestic terrorist threat in American comes from a compromised FBI that hates Trump is also refuted by the Greiten ad. Greiten was appealing specifically to all those supposedly "responsible gun owners" among the MAGA crowd.

Yeah, except that it gives them fuel. Look at how many naive mesh-cap and legging moms Christopher Rufo brought into their fold. They always do this memory hole thing. "This isn't about [last outrageous thing we did] we welcome [people who opposed last outrageous thing we did] and are really just here to [do innocent sounding thing]." Remember, George W. Bush was a "war hero" one day and then in 2010 they'd never heard of him and his deficit spending was why he wasn't a Real┬о Conservative and they rebranded as the Tea Party.

So no, there should be no organic outrage about renaming schools, but if we say the stakes are that high, it's incumbent on us not to tip any normies away.
