I work in a very affluent town that is all-in on Trump; there are still Trump Trains to this day. People honk and hoot at it. Flag pole installers are living large. These are people with money. I have to think they're one-issue voters (taxes), but also consume right-wing media. What the cry is out for is that they may be successful, but they don't think on their own (even while, I'm sure, some of them are telling others to do their own research in all-caps type).
Perhaps the conventional wisdom of education, income and the socio-economic status it confers is incorrect? I don't believe the " genie" will be going back into the bottle, the republic rests its future with this upcoming generation and sane Americans that are left.

Retired academic here. Forgive me, Scott, but the word is "genie." (Pedanticism is an occupational hazard.)
And thanks! I learned a new word today! Also not insulted by the correction. If I'm going to comment in public I should have noticed.
Correct I do apologize for not seeing that, however the sentiment remains.
That used to be true, back when we had a shared set of facts.
