I think we've learned in the hardest possible way, that the irrational has powerful emotional sway, particularly when it appeals to latent grievances, and that people react to that more than they do to any appeal to logic or rationality. Hate garners more support than love. Humans are truly awful when operating in a group motivated by grievance and disappointment.
It's weird to me that there is a choice and people chose Hamas. Both sides have suffered, elements of both sides have been unreasonable, but one side is democratic and the other side is genocidal. Where are they getting their moral constructs?
Well said. The country, well nearly half of us, needs therapy to recognize their latent grievances and the emotions driving them so they can learn to not act out their feelings. The social pressure from their fellow MAGAns will be tough, though.
