1) Even in the first go-around, one of the hallmarks of Trump was that his explanations/rationalizations for his policies were often so clearly just BS. No sentient being would believe them, but at least he gave an explanation. Now in Trump 2.0, he’s just stopped even pretending to have any justification other than revenge. He just says “do it”. So Comey must be prosecuted because he’s a “bad guy” as if being a “bad guy” is a crime by itself.
2) If Trump is going to drop the fig leaf, the rest of us should as well. We should all tell it like it is. Bondi is willing to try to punch a big hole in Comey’s life, someone who seems to have done nothing other than serve his country with honor and distinction, without the slightest honest justification. That’s not politics. That’s just pretty evil.
Likewise, Patel has gone after any number of honorable FBI agents. Not for malfeasance in law enforcement, but for malfeasance in political loyalty. Pretty evil as well.
Let’s no longer pretend that there is the slightest bit of decency in, or rational explanation for what these two have done. Or pretend that it’s anything other than what it really is – an attempt to ruin good people’s lives just to make a bad person’s life a little happier.
