Well said, and absolutely correct. The tariffs are an idiotic and self-destructive economic policy, but our democracy can survive such a calamity. However, the Administration's defying judgements from the Supreme Court, with the acquiescence of an apathetic (or worse, even supportive) populace, with no resistance from either political party in Congress, and with our private legal system and major businesses selling out to a POTUS whose word is meaningless, puts us on the brink of becoming an autocracy, from which we can't recover. We will not be rescued by future elections, if they are not honestly administered.

I was just mentioning this to family this morning. Tariffs is not the story, the defiance of a Supreme Court order is the story and should be on every front page as the main topic and if we come out of this mess with a "normal" President in 2028 or maybe a normal Congress in 2026 we need to find a way to safe-guard Court decisions such that a President can't say "whatever, I dare you to enforce it"

Completely agree. The unlawful detention and incarceration of ALL 200 of those men is the only issue that matters in terms of saving our democracy.
