Confession: usually when I hear people speak of another human being "accepting God into their life" it makes my blood boil. Not because I'm an unbeliever. But because it's being spoken by a sanctimonious religious zealot. And I've seen first hand the damage it has done, the division it sows - both on the body politic and on a very personal level in my own life.
