It’s worth listening to the podcast Grapevine, by the producers of Southlake, it’s about a trans teen whose mother doesn’t accept her child and the young person’s fight to what is essentially bodily autonomy. Unfortunately so many discussions about transgender youth go straight to the horrifying framing and don’t give space to what the child feels and needs. Note: I’m fully onboard with all people, young & old, making all decisions about their bodies. That includes the right to opt out of treatments for cancer and go with palliative care only, choose euthanasia & girls deciding whether to carry a baby to term without parental consent.
