The public should have zero say in whether those photos will ever be published. That decision should rest exclusively with the family of the dead, not government, and not everyday Americans. I'm very sorry for your loss, Gina.
Mamie Till was the one who chose to allow Jet magazine to photograph and publish the images of her son Emmett in his casket after his mutilation by racists in the South. No government made her do that for the "greater public good," and that was correct.
