I’m talking about not losing our democracy, forever. I’m talking about injecting some urgency and paying attention to the concerns of the young.

The concerns of the young? Are those concerns different from the concerns of everyone else wanting justice, equality, clean air and water, quality public education, quality/affordable healthcare, an end to homelessness . . . ?

Biden will get us closer to the things we want. At this moment, he is the only viable choice. Ideology is nice and all, but pragmatism is crucial.

We are told that climate change is a big concern of the young. The Biden years have been attentive to that. But perhaps the young haven't been attentive to the Biden years.

This administration has been better on the environment than any other administration in history. And they are just getting started.

The concerns are exactly the same, but young people see a doddering old Grandpa being presented as their only savior when they know better! Pragmatism is precisely why we need to buck “tradition” in favor of reality.

I am not familiar with anyone calling Biden a savior. He's a savvy politician who gets things done, one of the most effective presidents ever, and certainly in my long lifetime (And, no, he wasn't my first choice.) The whole savior schtick is on the other side.

Because no young people ever had a grandfather who was a positive role model? Because grandfathers are all old and useless? How very ageist of you.

Oh for Heaven’s sakes, that’s absurd! Nobody is yelling at Nancy Pelosi to retire - she’s still sharp. Same with Fauci. People age differently. Take your baseless accusations elsewhere.

FDR did his job from a wheelchair. "Doddering" is not only ageist, it's ableist.

How about daft?

Enjoy your ride to losing, with your mantle of impenetrable superiority, based on victim constructs. I’m definitely ageist at 71. Ableist? Sure if it saves the country

Yes, Max. You got my number. I’m fighting for autocracy. Geeze you are a waste of my time.

NYT just headlined that Trump is surging in the polls after the debate. Stay the course!!

A lot of former presidents had great first terms, and they’re now dead. Shall we resurrect them? Prop their bones in a chair? That’s not sound logic.

We need to engage disaffected voters, and a lot of them are younger, and they won’t be shocked at a change this late in the game; they’ll be energized.

All true. It doesn’t overcome the debate debacle that everyone saw and can rewatch at will. MAGAs are unreachable but there’s a huge cohort who are completely disengaged from this race, in disgust. They are reachable with a fresh face.

The young can save us. But whatever. Happily go to fascism with your purity.

You appear to be confused about who is exhibiting ideological purity. It's not the Biden/Harris folks. Get a grip. Start thinking tactically. You're not being asked to marry Biden and his administration. You're just being asked to allow them to take us a little bit further towards our goals. Work for who you want to run in 2028.
