This has Federalist Society written all over it. I’m positive the Federalist Society directed the Supreme Court to wait to the very last moment on the immunity case, as to push the other federal and state trials past the election.
And they’ve been directing Cannon to find ways to do the same; except she can’t even hide her incompetence and impartiality.
The fascist court isn’t even waiting until after the election to continue with their biased and corrupt shenanigans; they’re committing their crimes in plain sight!…:)
Any question that she likely did this under cover of the New York trial, thinking that it would get lost in the shuffle as CNN and others promote their gavel-to-gavel coverage of that instead?
Interesting theory. I wouldn’t be surprised if she made the ruling because she actually believes liberal NY has it out for him. I bet she’s a true believer.
Additionally, this has The Federalist Society written all over it. Seriously, the SC takes the Colorado case immediately. Refuses to review the immunity case before it works its way through the Circuit Court, and then waits to the last possible day in the term to hear the case.
And now we have another Federalist Society Judge presiding over the most important case in recent memory, singlehandedly making it impossible to try this case before the election. What’s the adage: “Justice delayed is justice denied?”
In this case, the meaning is ironic, to say the least…:)
Maybe this is just my own biases showing, but it still strikes me as far more significant than the latest blow-by-blow of the trial in New York, which is always going to be won in the trial court and then decided on the appeals based on whether or not the charges are valid in the first place.
Not a bias at all; well said and I agree wholeheartedly. Even if convicted, he won’t see a jail cell for years while his appeals are exhausted. And chances are it will be reversed. Not because it’s a kangaroo court, but because of some technically, similar to the Weinstein case.
Which is why a large part of me wishes that the judge would send him to jail even if for just a day or two, to experience the urine smells and other, even less savory sensations of being incarcerated and held against his will as the legal consequence of his words and actions. Better that than nothing at all if at least part of the goal is to burst the bubble of privilege that he has lived in and oblige him to experience at least some measure of the concept of accountability, as would be the case for the rest of us.
I agree, except it will backfire and galvanize his base and many others sitting on the sidelines. Whenever we try to punish the guy, or hold him accountable, his power grows exponentially…:)
I really disagree. Trump is claiming these are false charges. The base outrage is directed at false charges. Trump running his mouth and getting in trouble for threatening family members of judges and jury members is not the same thing at all. I also suspect that one photo of Trump without 3 hours of prep time would do a lot to shoot down the image of the hale and hearty "outlaw rebel."
Also I must have missed it when someone tried to hold him accountable. I see millions of dollars being spent on trying to get him out of accountability. The very, very few people who actually tried to hold him accountable, I could count on one hand. Mueller, possibly. Liz Cheney. Nancy Pelosi. Not seeing too many other people. I'll bet they can look at themselves in the mirror, though.
You may well be right. But it's also where I tend to fall back on the Truman analogy (again) of saying that doing the right thing rather than the expedient or popular thing usually wins out in the end. Sure, the base will rally behind him, but they're going to vote for him anyway. In contrast I wonder how much support he stands to gain from those in the middle who find the optics appalling and don't see him as a victim of anything other than his loud mouth and bad choices. And there are those already repulsed by him and now with one more stomach-churning reason to either vote for someone else or leave that portion of their ballot blank. Perhaps the math favors Team Biden by the fall, when trial fatigue and other DJT overexposure stand to run their course. Fingers crossed.
Really? Absolutely NOTHING on Cannon putting the trump trial on hold indefinitely? https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/07/politics/judge-postpones-trump-classified-documents-trial/index.html#:~:text=Judge%20Aileen%20Cannon%20has%20indefinitely,case%20goes%20to%20a%20jury.

Agree 👍🏻

I hadn't thought about that angle, but it makes a lot of sense.
It almost seemed like a continuation of what's been going on since she was appointed, just more in-your-face this time.

I can hear Trump's line. "Everyone says the charges aren't valid. The judge was corupt. The appeals court will overturn it."

No question about that!
