To borrow one of Charlie's favorite phrases...I'm old enough to remember when an elected official not wearing an American flag lapel pin was treated like an act of treason by Republicans.

Democrats may the the "Old Gray Mare" that ain't what is used to be, but the new GOP crazies are the elephants in the room, but outside their cages.

Elephants are supposed to be intelligent creatures. The Q Party needs a new mascot. I suggest hyenas, which might be insulting to those creatures.

You're right, elephants are far too smart! Hyenas are a better metaphor. Snakes, lizards, dung beetles work too.

Today's MAGAs only wear the Trump flag pins - which is a real desecration of the flag.

I haven't seen that but I always do crack up about how the flag is sacred and not to be disrespected. Then they fly a flag with Rambo Trump plastered on it or change the colors completely.

It's a group who is completely immune to irony

To be honest, I don't know if there actually is a pin. But the flags are real. Months ago, a big dirty souped up pickup was before me flying a flag with a black stripe (or something) marring it. I decided to stay far away from it and deliberately slowed down. For all their purported love of the Flag, MAGAs sure believe in desecrating it.

Last summer, on a house in Flagstaff (no pun intended) I saw a blue Trump flag displayed above the American flag. Talk about irony. I should have taken a picture.

I often wonder how those big flags affect the drag coefficient and subsequent gas mileage of the pickup trucks.

To them that would be a feature, not a bug.

I was thinking the same thing. Republicans lost there minds when obama didn't wear one.

The media should ask them why they would replace the flag pin with an AR pin. Do they value the AR more than the flag? Do they pledge allegiance to the AR? etc.

The republican culture war is an asymmetrical war

These Republicans lost their minds when Obama wore a brown suit.

The GOP base lost its flippin' mind when Obama decided to run while wearing black skin.

I was gonna mention that too! That was long before the brown suit or the infamous coffee cup salute!
