He's already forsaken us. At this point, our only hope is that those time traveler's who stepped on a butterfly back in 2016 have figured out a way to fix this mess, so we can return to the timeline where, at worst, Paul Ryan just defeated Tim Kaine in the general.
Thought the same thing. However, politicians do what politicians do…..many more Republican Senators probably wouldn’t vote to confirm him. Without having to get a nay vote on record, once the minimum threshold of Republicans strongly indicated they would not vote for his confirmation, the others don’t have to do anything. That way they don’t piss off their MAGA constituents.
I think that’s a minimum number. When this was originally reported, either in the NYT or Politico, the estimate was 10 members a firm no, and up to 30 members leaning to no. Gaetz was never going to get confirmed and Trump just blew it by listening to Don Jr and Boris Epsteyn. Where you should say “God help us” is knowing that Trump can make a really horrible major decision as a snap judgment on an airplane listening to advice from his son and a Russian (naturalized citizen, still does a lot of business and lobbying for Russia).
Key point for me: he had lost 4-6 votes. Which means 47 to 49 of those bastards were willing to vote yes. God help us.
The sycophancy uber alles remains intact. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Exactly what I’m thinking!!
