I'm astounded by the amount of mail I receive from the various organs of the Democratic Party or by folks like Pelosi and Schumer. Who the hell reads their mail anymore - who even gets mail? What a waste of money!
"Donald Trump, with his penchant for political vengeance, would move to dismantle a critical piece of their party infrastructure: the online giving platform ActBlue." Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...
Re Act Blue - had some locals come by awhile back (August, 2023) with a list of all the donations we had made thru Act Blue saying "they just wanted to make sure we were aware of them in case Act Blue made a mistake". (at the time it was republicans who had the button that misled people into clicking on it and it created monthly donations). They have been after Act Blue a long time.
Just wanted to comment on the emails.... THE EMAILS... the fundraising emails. I guess they work? but oh my gawd. Stop with the panic. stop with the "just $3 will mean we win". Stop stop stop. Jeff Jackson in N. Carolina had wonderful campaign emails. Informative. conversational. Some of them didn't even ask for money! or it was low-key at the bottom. Do more of those. I want to hear from Harris when someone ISN'T asking for money in her name. DItto with other politicians. Maybe every 5th email could just be an update? I'd love it more often, but that would help. as it is, it's all "delete delete delete" because I know there is nothing worth reading in them. I will donate when I'm ready to donate (Just gave some $$ to the DNCC since we're coming up to end of month). But can't they stop treating us like ATM machines?
Another overreach too far. Trump has the exaggerated feeling that he swept the board during his first 100 days. Now come 1,360 days of backlash, and he doesn't have the character to withstand it, or a competent staff to protect him from it. He's about to find out just how little a mandate 49% of the vote really gives.
Every Trump accusation is a confession of his guilt.
Remember Trump's first campaign? He sent out fund raising emails to lawmakers in the United Kingdom, Iceland, Australia and elsewhere. When he was caught, he tried to pass it off as an innocent mistake. Or maybe he was being sarcastic. But since then, Trump has been shoving loads of foreign cash into his pockets, and these foreign actors are more than happy to go along with the scam. You can be sure, if Trump's fundraising was investigated there'd be plenty of sketchy foreign donations.
Bottom line, this is a mob hit: "nice little fundraising website you got there, shame if something happened to it."
The T. Rump criminal enterprise has one goal with respect to the Demopublicans - drive them to extinction. Project 2025 envisions a Unitary Executive with the Judicial and Legislative branches subservient to the will of the Fuhrer as agents for his (it is ALWAYS him, isn't it?) agenda.
The Demopublican strategy of too little and too late is still being pursued single-mindedly in my opinion with the likely result that a third party may emerge in opposition to the T. Rump criminal enterprise which will become a target for oppression in its turn if it gains sufficient traction. My guess is that the Republicrats will move in the way autocratic regimes always move to deny the legitimacy of any opposition by any means necessary.
For those who believe the polls we must at some point acknowledge that there is a floor of support for the T. Rump criminal enterprise which is about 30% of the notoriously fickle American electorate and a ceiling of support for the unfocused Demopublicans of about the same magnitude. This leaves a possible field of action limited to roughly 15% of the electorate which might be motivated to become active for either side in the next election. Too little and too late will not cut it.
As a donor, I hate using ActBlue. Why? Because it becomes a de facto way of signing up to be bombarded with unwanted emails, asks, text messages, and other intrusive communications. If the Dems could find a way to facilitate giving without highjacking my contact with the outside world I would be likely to give a lot more than I do. And I am not stingy. But I often hold off on giving because of the BS it generates from the party.
Your complaint seems trivial since if you donate in any way, your contact info will be distributed to other candidates since by law you have to give your name and address in order to donate. They all share or sell their lists. It's a small price to pay for an easy and quick way to donate to your candidate or for the party in general.
Sorry, but my right to not have my phone and email blowing up is far from trivial to me. Maybe my life is just not in a place to be contributing financially to through this vehicle
Can frivolous prosecution for exercising core constitutional freedoms be the basis for criminal civil rights charges? Could a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate the top of the Justice Department for such civil rights violations?
All too many are paying attention to the attack on Act Blue. This is the wrong focus. The fact sheet to the EO leads with the following sentence, "Memorandum to crack down on illegal “straw donor” and foreign contributions in American elections..." This statement is an invitation to go after Trump's illegal foreign contribution grifts! Now is the time to target Trump with his own EO and when the DOJ does not act, raise holy hell. Trump always self destructs; attack attack attack.
I hope that some Democrats are keeping a list of the many ways the Republicans are using the levers of government to go after their opponents. They better be doing the same thing when they get back in power! None of this "we're looking forward, not backward."
Clearly I understood that my campaign donations to Harris/Walz would doom me to receiving hysterical emails and texts on a daily basis for the remainder of my life. Not a problem, I never read any of it. But it’s not directed at me, it’s directed at my Dad. He’s got some cognitive issues, like many in his cohort. He thinks Kamala and Joe are sending him emails about their worries and fears. He is often anxious to make his donations before some special double matching offer expires. It’s not criminal and as long as he doesn’t start donating to Republicans, my sister and I are ok with it. But it’s not ethical. It’s what we all expect from politicians and that’s exactly the problem. Wake up guys, this shit is why everyone fucking hates you. No one trusts a greedy grifting hack. The Dems are amateurs compared to the current King but they’re not going to make the necessary contrast over corruption if they don’t clean up their act.
Tom - I rate myself a generous person. And I detest when a chosen charity or candidate shares my info and I start getting more emails/texts that begin, “Hello J, I’m HoJo HominyGritz and I’m locked in a tight race for State Fish Commissioner somewhere 2000 miles from you & I need your help TODAY to save our democratic way of life…”
Maybe when I lose a few more synapses that will appeal? For now: block, curse, delete
Well. They could do both: do everything to save ActBlue, AND build a sister fundraising device ActBlue!
every accusation is an admission, or better every accusation is a projection
I'm astounded by the amount of mail I receive from the various organs of the Democratic Party or by folks like Pelosi and Schumer. Who the hell reads their mail anymore - who even gets mail? What a waste of money!
i am a serial campaign donor. 1) never had a problem, whether check, direct on line, paypal, act blue etc. 2) payment portals are trivial to set up.
the act blue thing is overblown.
Seems like a really good example of market concentration, and its perils and pitfalls.

There needs to be a way to opt out of that. And it’s not trivial, even if it’s hopeless because of the facts you mention.

I’m for diversification. Act Blue has been my main go to. Democrats need to modernize their technology while fighting the sick authoritarian beast!
