SO MUCH WINNING. But don't worry, we're assured that Trump is a next-level genius who hasn't conceived of AND driven into the ground classics like:

Trump Steaks

Trump University

Trump Airlines

Trump (and Melania!) Meme Coins

and everyone's favorite

Trump Casino (how do you bankrupt a casino?!)

From Bloomberg: Treasuries fell, heading toward their worst weekly loss since 2019, with US government debt losing over 2% this week.

"Treasuries fell, as the $29 trillion market heads toward its worst weekly loss since turmoil in the plumbing of the US financial system forced action from the Federal Reserve in 2019.

The slide extended Friday, lifting yields on benchmark 10-year notes as much as 10 basis points to the highest level since February, surpassing the previous tariff-induced peak. US government debt lost more than 2% this week as of Thursday’s close, the biggest drop since a liquidity crisis broke out in the market for repurchase agreements, or repos, in September 2019.

...

Bonds have been whipsawed as President Donald Trump announced sweeping global tariffs, then walked most of them back — eroding appetite for US assets and prompting questions about whether the nation’s debt remains a haven. This week’s selloff fueled speculation about blowups in hedge fund trades or a exodus of foreign investors from Treasuries.

...

Key quote: “The issue facing the markets is a loss of confidence in US policy,” said Kathy Jones, chief fixed-income strategist at Charles Schwab. “The abrupt changes in tariff policy have caused leveraged trades to come undone and sent buyers to the sidelines.”"

We are still down almost 10% since January 20th. And I am in the middle of a cancer scare. Where is that fatal cheeseburger everyone has been hoping for? “Art of the deal”? It’s a deal for Trump and his slimy friends. I guess I am off to buy some canned vegetables… I bet the MAGA folks are laughing, because they probably voted for Trump hoping that he would take my money and give it to them. I guess they are half right…Meanwhile, they are also trying to destroy public service loan forgiveness. My 32-year-old daughter has been working for the State of New York for almost 8 years. However, because she works for a “woke” organization, they will probably take her forgiveness away, and then I’ll have to help her pay her student loans on top of everything else I’m worrying about…for example, whether any of my granddaughters will be able to get adequate medical care as teenagers and adults…

So sorry, Ginny. These are awful times! I'm spared any health concerns (so far) but I, too, am thinking about having to move to save what money is left in my retirement accounts, and maybe have something to help my kids.

Thank you. I guess my point, which I have been trying to make to a lot of my people right now, is that no one is safe. No one. I missed half of what I was trying to capture. So it gets worse.

What kind of idiot posts on social media about the orgasmic splendor of watching the boss post on social media. We are so stupid.

“He and I had a long talk on Sunday,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, “and this was his strategy all along.”

If they talked, Bessent was probably telling him how much money rich folks could make buying stocks at rock bottom prices and selling when they went back up. A lot of people took hits here, but friends of t***p and family of course knew ahead of time and made a killing.

I realize (THE GOLDEN AGE) is the topoic of the next part of the conversation but to comment on (THE GOLDEN AGE) at the end of this some how will be lost! Am confused about the (GOLDEN AGE); isn't the (GOLDEN AGE) the "beginning of the end? I think an effort needs to be put into a new term, something more fitting of the "AGE"? Something very up beat, reflective of a bright future. Don't ya think?

When you listen to these mental and moral degenerates blather on you would think we were in the great depression before they slithered in to “save” us. Economy was going pretty damn good before the creature came back in to mess it up.

You know, I am getting a little irritated about ALL the horrible things trump is doing, and "the democrats better not blow this". From what I can see we have Democratic Senators and Governors, and Attorneys General are going into red areas, red states, answering the questions that republicans are afraid to ask. So how about some atta boys and girls for them, and throw some shit at the republicans! Jeez, all through the 2024 election cycle, all I heard about was Biden is losing it, Kamala is too negative, Kamala is too perky, the dems are bringing in too many celebrities. The dems seem tone deaf to what people want.

Barely a word of how bizarre trump was during the whole 18 months before the election, and how he promised that he wouldn't let it be "stolen" from him again. NOW I heard him say that

".. in my first term here was the America's cup and then I was going to miss it, but now, the election was rigged so I am president again for the America's cup. isn't that great?" I HEARD HIM SAY THAT LAST WEEK! Enough with the Democrats are not doing enough. WE HAVE A CRIMINAL IN THE WHITE HOUSE BRAGGING ABOUT HOW HE CHEATED HIS WAY IN AND YOU GUYS SAY NOTHING.

Yesterday, he had Charles Schwab and folks from several other big financial institutes in the Oval. Here he said, (and now I am paraphrasing) That was pretty good the market went way down and I changed the tariff deals and it went back you, You made millions, you made millions. Pointing at all the billionaires in the room about what sounded like a purposeful manipulation of the market to allow for insider trading. WHEN will he be brought to task and by whom? The dems are doing all they can. LEGALLY. He does not need to follow the law. He even thanked John Roberts for that last week!

YOU GUYS SAY SOMETHING!!!!

One cannot help but wonder if the retraction of certain tariffs was shared information before it was officially announced. And if those "in the know" profited from the uptick.

Always reminded of Doonesbury comic - May 9, 196 - Mao Tse Tung tells Honey on Monday to tear down the Great Wall of China; she tells him Tuesday it's done. On Thursday he says he wants it rebuilt. She tells on Friday it's done. In reality, she spent the whole week watching TV but he thinks she's a genius.

Absolutely right, Mr. Egger, businesses (and individual people)will not undertake actions to grow the economy when there is so much instability. You think just because Trump "paused" the tariffs that people will go back to business as usual? I think instead they will keep up their cautious inaction because who the heck knows what he'll do next week? Next month? Tomorrow? I had breakfast yesterday with some friends. One, who had plans to sell their house and build a new one up in northern AZ where it's cooler, said they're staying where they are for two reasons: one, the builders of the new houses are looking at uncertainly and higher prices for their materials, so they can't predict what the new house would actually cost, and two, the houses in their (nice upper middle class) neighborhood have stopped selling because people have decided not to buy right now. Another, who had planned to do some remodeling, decided to hold off and save her money. My sister said she is no longer planning on remodeling her bathroom. She works for the VA and we all know the uncertainty of people who have those kinds of jobs. I have decided to keep my ten year old car running instead of buying a new one out of financial caution. I am a retiree with a nice pension from the Arizona State Retirement System, which so far seems to be safe, but about a third of my income is Social Security, and God only knows (I'm pretty sure none of the geniuses in charge in D.C. do) what is going to happen with that. Thanks for all you're doing to make our economy great again, Donnie! I sure wish we had Sleepy Joe back, or Kamala had won. I bet if either of those people were in charge, the new house, new car, and remodeling would be happening.

So the felon said they just wrote it without lawyers, but was from the heart????? More like his farts. Because we all know he has no heart along with no fucking brains. The Atlantic had a wonderful discussion with Rahm Emmanual in which he said the extent of the clown cabinet's use of the English language is 4 words, "Yes sir Mr. President".

"His out-of-nowhere Truth Social post announcing massive new tariffs on China but a 90-day pause on most tariffs for everyone else (more on this in a bit) sent markets joyously skyrocketing — not because traders were pleased by the economic fundamentals of the announced change, but because they were plainly relieved that Trump was proving willing to respond to economic stimuli at all."

I expect this sort of nonsensical framing from the legacy media but not from The Bulwark. The markets did not "skyrocket." The S&P 500 partially recovered the losses it suffered starting only five trading days before when Trump announced his reciprocal tariffs and still only made it back up to ~225 points below the April 2 close. Yesterday's (April 9) close was ~11.2% below its record close on Feb. 19, 2025 and slightly above the close of April 19, 2024, wiping out nearly an entire year's worth of gains. The "skyrocket" hit the under side of the White House roof and exploded on the south lawn.

But not all is bad. Trump won his Saudi-funded golf tournament last weekend!

I think Trump increased China's tariffs to hurt Musk. Musk was way too authoritarian and made Trump look as dumb as a stone in the Oval Office. Then he did the most egregious stunt by directing media attention away from the 47 child. Trump's reeling Musk in and wants him begging to remove the China tariffs.

Look folks. You are misreading this thing IMO. The oligarchs here and elsewhere made out like the bandits they are. This fascist in chief is conning all of you. He planned to blink. That was the reason for the tweet the other day that he was thinking about it. In the old days that was called a "trial baloon". He saw exactly what he could cause and how his rich buddies would benefit. Blatant market manipulation. Of course China is still on the list but the penguins have been spared. What a crock!
