Hello! My name is Barbara and I’m an addict. My drug of choice is caffeine. Over the last 50 years i have had many cycles of using and getting clean. Using @ a controllable level now.. When i read your statement quoted above it took me back to one particular instance of getting clean.
I want to share that experience.
I was still working and the temptation of the office coffee mess was too much for me. I probably drank 10- ish cups a day. No coffee pot on weekends so i basically was a zombie on days off. A work trip of two weeks was coming up and i thought that would be a good opportunity to go cold turkey.
My first stop was six hours behind home time so i had to be awake to what felt like 4 in the morning. I developed a truly massive withdrawal headache and could hardly stay awake. We were working in a room that was really cold— im sure it was below sixty. I was dressed for a tropical environment. As the visitor i was expected to be alert to the activities. Never been as miserable before or since. Death would have been a mercy.
If Trump feels one tenth of that, i actually have the first scrap of sympathy i have ever felt for him.
