Where is Hunter S Thompson when we need him? "Fear and Loathing is the norm not the exception these days.

In addition Ralph Steadman's illustrations are spot on when applied to the current Reptile Republicans in power today.

Trump’s bleat is pathetic. He communicates like a 6th grader. I still am amazed he ever held the office. Disgusted really.

SCOTUS should deny and let the beautiful ruling stand.

Charlie, you've been a, well. . . *bulwark* against the forces of greed, resentment, and incivility in our poor messed-up democracy for not long enough, but I fully understand why, after five years of slapping us around trying to make sense of all this nonsense, you might feel the need to just head off to somewhere balmy with a nice bottle of scotch and scream at some clouds for awhile.

Nonetheless, the last time I felt this politically bereft was when Jon Stewart left his network bully pulpit, and I'd like to believe you timed your departure to let him tag team you after a well-deserved break from the madness. Please, please tell us you'll be back after this break?

Thank you, a thousand thank yous for the sanity. You are a National Treasure.

This is the saddest excuse of governance I’ve witnessed in my 50 voting years. I truly fear for my grandchildren who have already lost rights I had for almost 50 years.

It's bad enough that Tucker Carlson is such a malignant shill for Putin. What's most sickening is how so many people in MAGA-land are willing and eager to believe that America is the villain in the Ukraine war. They're thirsting for "evidence" that the U.S. has done evil things in Ukraine and that Russia is righteously defending itself from American aggression.

And then some of them claim that "Biden's weakness" is the reason for disorder in the world!

Charlie-- I don't know what I will do without your daily podcast and newsletters. I have been listening to you religiously for all the years you have been doing this (I've lost count) and your insigts, your interview skills, your commentaries, your humor - will be sorely missed. I love all of the Bulwark team - but Charlie - no one can take your place.

Trump, although he grew up in New York, must have gone to school in Florida since he knows nothing abut American history and our founding documents. Does he think we rebelled against King George III because we did not like the tea they sold us? Did anyone ever try to explain why we have three branches of government? Could he name them? And since he probably thought there were "fine people" on both sides in the Civil War; it is no wonder that he cannot understand the very clear language of the 14th Amendment.

The Orange Guy sure isn’t very bright, is he? Screaming in all caps on Lies Social still doesn’t change the eloquent findings of the DC Court of Appeals. And his sycophants in Congress made a truly poor showing this week as well. Batting a thousand, these clowns.

So much to comment on:

The delicious failure of Mike Johnson, who apparently can't count. The fall of McDaniel, being thrown under the bus by a man for whom she literally gave up her family name. It would be funny if it wasn't so serious.

What just baffles me, though, is the disconnect between how trumpers view tfg, as opposed to literally anyone else in the world. If that traitorous POS is reelected, our reputation in the world will PLUMMET. But the cult somehow thinks he's more respected?! I mean, the heads of state literally laughed in his face.

Citizen Trump!

The image I get is from Citizen Kane and the sled Rosebud.

Just as the movie's hero never forgot his childhood sled, it seems Citizen Trump is stuck back in his childhood, perpetually stewing over some slight.
