But he is also doing deals with US companies like Apple and the auto companies. He is using the tariffs to shakedown US companies. Those are the real deals. There might be a few other leverage on countries for issues unrelated to trade, like Mexicans and immigration or Ukraine and its minerals. But basically it is grift.
I had no idea who Scott Bessent was, I haven't liked what I've seen so far, but I looked up some information and learned he's a gay man with a husband and adopted children. What kinda surprises me is with Trump being ok with his openly gay background, when Trump usually seems to only want manly-looking ladies men from casting call like Hegseth.
