"Trump is past triangulation. He’s past argumentation and persuasion. He’s in the raw-power business now."

Your friends at The Dispatch, and it would seem to me, Damon Linker, do not see this plain fact. There are many others at CNN, CBS, Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, etc who are caught up in their delusions of grandeur, and clearly unable - or simply and plainly refuse - acknowledge disturbingly nativist authoritarian power grab that's unfurling right before our eyes in the USA.

Sad. And scary.

If we ever get a chance to prosecute these people, Noem, Bondi, Miller and Vought should be first. And I am not sure which one of those should be the very first.

Bondi is the bad bitch body bottle blonde Jasmine Crockett pasted on MTG. She's now got company, and MTG looks positively wholesome next to the AG! AG now stands for Anti-Government! Want antifa?? this woman is pro-MAGA, with every insult imaginable, and refusal to answer questions from Senators who are far more in tune with the Law she refuses to abide by.

So my questions with this mess,are...Are there ANY repercussions for the behavior of Pam Bondi before a Congressional Committee? She was rude, ugly and altogether obnoxious to the Democrats on the Committee (while not peep was heard from the Republican Chair). Apparently there are no Legal or Financial ramifications to blowing off Congressional Committees, and so I say don't have them anymore.

Secondly, If they go after Jack Smith like they did with Comey, is there some way that all the evidence against Trump is protected for the future? Please don't tell me it is housed at the DOJ or the FBI. I'm just heartsick at the weakness of our laws and government

For a government that was very concerned about efficiency (DOGE even had it in it's name), doesn't it strike anyone how inefficient it is to have a government shutdown and furlough most of the employees and then after the shutdown is over not only pay those that were compelled to work but those that didn't work? Of course not paying them would disrupt their lives resulting in people losing their homes if they didn't have sufficient emergency funds so they have to be paid, but still it is so very INEFFICIENT.

In a sane world rather than complaining that their phones were "tapped" which they were not, Trump would have been convicted of an attempted coup, and the senators who passed along fraudulent electors or took other active part in the coup would have been charged and convicted as well. Instead they can complain of the injustice of being investigated.

Bondi's "performance" was a disgusting spectacle and made an absolute farce of Congress and its supposed "oversight role. Her smug smirk and nasty personal attacks - clearly prepared in advance and in a nice binder that she would leaf through to get to the "gotcha" one-liners to be played later on Fox and right-wing media - do a complete disservice to the role of the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.

I was so infuriated by this, and by Grassley and the Republicans' failure to stop her obscene behavior that I fired off a comment to Grassley's Senatorial contact web page to excoriate him on allowing this disgusting spectacle. Not that it will do any good, but I felt that he should get some pointed feedback.

A few comments...

1) “It was all, of course, pure audience-of-one stuff” – it is certainly more than possible that Bondi behaved as she did just get a “pat on the head” from Trump. But I think there is also a more than possible chance that she behaved as she did because she really believes the shit that she’s throwing out there. She really does believe that Biden tried to cover up something with Hunter Biden and Burisma. She really does hold the Democratic Senators in such contempt that she feels they have no right to question anything that she has done. She really does feel that Trump is saving America, and no one should get in his way.

It’s not an act to garner favor from Trump. It’s simply her letting her “inner Trump” loose.

2) Remember when the Trumplicants were all upset because Hunter Biden got a Burisma board seat despite him not having any oil or gas extraction experience? So I guess we’re just supposed to believe that DJTJ has relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Who knew?

I don't normally resort to anything sort of gross or salacious. But Rick Wilson of the Lincoln Project summed up Bondi's performance well: something we oldsters might recall from that wonderful movie "When Harry Met Sally." The restaurant scene where the older woman says after watching in amazement Meg Ryan's ersatz climax says "I'll have what she's having." Pam Bondi delivered excitations for an audience of one. While spitting in the face of our senators, rule of law, constitution and above all else, the American citizens.

To your question: "If you’re a company with industry interests before the administration, why wouldn’t you be lining up to get Trump Jr. on your board?", the answer is simply because it is the wrong thing to do. I am 72 years old and have held myself to that standard throughout my life. I am also presently living out my years by myself, from old-age pension check to old-age pension check, in a ramshackle house with holes in it in the countryside of Australia. And if I had to do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing.

Please, please keep a regular section entitled "Department of Stories that Would Cause Major Scandal in Normal Times But Which We Now Barely Have Time Even to Acknowledge Quickly Here". Things are ramping up so quickly so that those of us who want to keep abreast of it all are relying on the Bulwark to do that for us. I realize it is more work for you, in addition to the second-to-none analysis you provide, but it is important to many of us.

I watched Bondi’s Tues Senate Judiciary Committee appearance off & on via CSPAN. It wasn’t a show for just 1 man - but for Fox, for former The Apprentice fans & the unmovable MAGA base, & the billionaires….so let’s say 40% of the US population (estimate). Maybe my math is wrong, but isn’t 60% a majority?
