Sarah Longwell is joined by Ben Wittes to break down the likely to push indictment of James Comey as Donald Trump continues to push Pam Bondi’s DOJ for charges against Comey, Letitia James, and Adam Schiff.
Can the judge toss the indictment saying that isn’t the right jurisdiction? If the two places where the alleged perjury took place were DC and Alexandria…
I'm glad that Ben used the phrase "stupid and complicated" to describe the potential charges that the DOJ may (or likely will) issue against Comey....Well, "complicated" because while I think the charges are likely "stupid," I really had a hard time determining that for myself, precisely because it's complicated. This is all very exhausting.
As someone who is far from being a legal expert, I have a question: is there really not any way that discovery in this case could be extremely embarrassing to Trump?
It's terrible Trump has commenced prosecuting his enemies, and I hope he is handed quick rebukes from grand juries. On the other hand if this ruins Comey's month I'd chalk it up to some poetic justice.
Breaking news. Hegseth is bringing all top US military to a meeting in the US next week. Lev of Lev Remembers Substack says: he inside information is they are going to be asked a loyalty test. The plan is to US military against the so called left in the US. Project 25 wants to do away with the Constitution. This is why the Trump administration is making it-look like the left and it all started with Kirk.
This is planned out . It must be stopped. Where are the leaders?
Thanks for the great explanation, Ben and Sarah. What drives me nuts is that Congressional Republicans could stop all this at any moment if they chose to.
Meta journalism comment: I gotta say (after being very harsh on MSNBC for its even-less-rational decision to fire Matt Dowd than ABC’s decision on Kimmel) it’s *very* good news that MSNBC proper (not NBC News) has been a bit of a scoop machine over the past few weeks, since it’s about to be spun off. It needs to prove it can be a serious news operation and not just a left-opinion channel.
A case of throw enough mud to see what sticks........
The scene where Joe Pesci shows Ralph Macchio the "card trick" in My Cousin Vinny" springs to mind.
This was a great conversation. Thanks for doing this.
Excellent piece pulling the threads…

I don’t understand
He certainly does tower over Donald. Trump looks puny.
Wow, what a great show; I learned a lot and so appreciate you guys’ commitment and passion. Hang in there and we will too!

Comey's indictment warrants a Thursday Night Bulwark.
More Ben Wittes, please!!

Could a lawyer who knowingly charges someone with no evidence lose their license?
Sarah and Ben - Thanks for the breakdown of this. How funny would it be if VP pulled a DT and claimed HE was the only reason DT won? 😜
