A big boost in funding for border security is actually a good idea. Along with funding for state and local governments to take care of the migrants who are prohibited from working. We are talking tens of billions of dollars here. NYC, which is where Schumer is from, is facing devastating budget cuts as a result of needing to take care of the migrants; why doesn't he do something?

If Im not Jewish does that mean I have to stop celebrating Hannukah? Say it ain’t so!!!

I, too, decorate for fall, and don't start the Christmas decor until the day after Thanksgiving....then leave them up until Jan 6 and replace with more generic winter decor. I have a friend who puts up Christmas decorations right after Halloween (and takes it all down the day after Christmas). Waaay too early in my book.

My house is pretty decked out for fall, so I refuse to eat Thanksgiving dinner amongst Christmas decs. The day after TG I start Christmas decorating, and the tree goes up about 2 weeks before Christmas (it stays up for about two weeks after).

Our family tradition is to put up the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. But this year, we dragged it out 2 weeks early just to brighten our mood. No ornaments, just the pretty lights. The rest of our decorations went out on the usual schedule.

Joe, you must realize that there will be no "stench" if/when Santos is expelled. In the age of the Orange Caligula, the Republican party is a "No-Stench Zone". There will be a significant number of people who scream "fake news", await the despicable Santos to claim 'religion', forgive and lionize him. As I have said numerous times, we are doomed.

Which religion is Santos claiming to be this week?

Alter Thanksgiving. No doubt about that.

We always wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. Thanksgiving is such a lovely, warm holiday I like to let it linger.

I do it after Thanksgiving

Since I was a kid and to this very day, Christmas decorating started after Thanksgiving.

Republicans play games while Ukrainians are buried under snow and endure daily waves of drone and missile strikes. Putin waits patiently to feast on the smashed remains of their country and sets his sights on Moldova, Georgia, Poland, and the Baltic states. There is no bottom to the abyss of cynicism and cruelty the Republican party has descended into. It endangers us all.

The Republican Party is now all Useful Idiots for Putin. And that is giving them the benefit of the doubt.

They aren't doing anything to help Israel, either, other than to make speeches.

We wait to put up Christmas decorations until the first week of December, but we leave them up through January 6.

Take out the Menorah the day before Hanukkah. Put it away the day after. Very simple. Does anybody know when Hanukkah starts this year? I screwed that up last year.

An issue back or so, I expressed disappointment in the Ethics Committee. Too early for my remark. Very good for the chairman to pursue the expulsion resolution. No conviction is needed for someone at that level of lying and dissembling. He is very much a poster boy for expulsion. Let him sashay out the door.

I now support Santos expulstion.

I had opposed it before the Ethics Committee finished its work. The Committee has finished, and the work constitutes proper decision making based on due process.

Due process does not mean Justice Department court work or a trial; it does require an appropriate body to consider an issue according to defined rules. Tempted as I am to think otherwise, the Ethics Committee of Congress is an appropriate body, it has defined rules, and it did act with intelligence.

Bye bye, Mr Santos

Separately, even thinking about Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving is grounds for expulsion, no process needed. Jeez Louise, isn't that obvious?

Decorate for Christmas ONLY AFTER Thanksgiving! Otherwise, sacrebleu!

Watch any old movie - on the East Coast, where I grew up, except for store fronts and the Rockefeller Center tree, most people didn't buy trees and/or decorate until late December and they stayed up until at least 1/6 (the Epiphany). When I moved to Colorado, I was surprised that people were decorating so early and that the trees came down 12/26. Did nobody hear of the 12 days of Christmas? They end on 1/6, not 12/26!

I have a friend that on 12/26 the tree came done because his family would go snowboarding the following week so it made sense.

A real tree, yup, wouldn't last. But an artificial tree would. :-)

My father was always nervous about fire hazards, so we didn't put the (always real) tree up until December 23: "Christmas Eve Eve" became another holiday for us that still brings happy memories.

We did the same when we were kids, just because that's what was done in Hungary, at least in the 50s. Not to mention more fun for the kids. Going shopping or seeing the store window decorations - fantastic at B Altmans and Lord & Taylor on 5th Avenue - no longer there. And Santa showed up at our apt while we were gone with tree and presents around when we got back. In Hungary then, Santa came on Christmas Eve, so we didn't have to wait until Christmas morning.

Right! And at any rate, who takes their REAL trees down before at least New Year's Day?! An abomination and contrary to the laws of society!
