First - Thank you Lauren for your wry and excellent distillation of the News Today.

To the Democrats and anyone who just loves a good song about change.. much needed change…. For all of us. Not the blues not the reds.. just people…

This is your song:

"the real currency in politics is not message discipline but message dominance.". Best sentence written this year. Wish I could send it back in time to Kamala

Democrats, once upon a 1960's counter revolutionary time, used to be good at grabbing the headlines. Every night on the 6 o'clock news Uncle Walter was commenting on their acting out. They have muscle memory for doing this, I feel sure. Time to call upon that tradition of upstart energy and fight. Come on, Dems. I know you know how to fight injustice and outrageous attempts by a corrupt, quasi fascistic state to steal your constitutional rights. And your democracy. Become who you once were.

Finally some signs of adaptation. Holy crap its been glacially slow in the face of such significant threats though and so much more is needed still.

Reminds me of the scene in Casablanca - What? There is gambling going on in here? If nothing else perhaps the Epstein files will enable some people to find the exits before the casino is raided.

The protest marches are great, but I always feel like it's not enough. I've also been feeling sick about the destruction of scientific research in the United States, and I don't see anything effective being done to stop that. How about having a Save U.S. Science day of demonstrations and fundraising for an education campaign on what is being cut and the effects of those cuts. You could do other demonstration days on tax changes, climate jobs lost, etc. If you can get effective education campaigns on these issues, funded by grassroot targeted anti-trump demonstrations, the protests will have a bigger impact.

Everyone reaches a point where the bully takes the cruelty too far. The Party has reached that point. The Dems have enough people to punch back. And punch back they will. Thanks Lauren. You delivered a timely and needed kick in the ass.

I was thrilled to see the phrase: “We have to stop being the party of overeducated pearl-graspers and start getting a little tougher.” In N Idaho the Dems are called “Do Nothing Dems” for this very reason. You are surrounded by MAGA and take the high road? That’s a sure way to lose and lose and lose. Hit them where you can hurt them and then keep hitting, hitting, hitting. No wonder the working class has walked away. Dems don’t want to get dirty.

Great article Lauren; one question lingered: Is it true Chuck Schumer has crafted yet another well written letter to force trump's hand on the Epstein files?

Thank God at least some/more/hopefully most (we know it won't be all of them) of the dems will come to grips with the folly of playing nice so as to win the independent voters over.

I bet money Pam Bondi has seen video of trump raping a 13-year-old girl.

The Democrats finally realized you don’t win in the attention economy by whispering policy papers into a hurricane.

They're out here podcasting with MMA bros, trolling MAGA with Epstein receipts, and organizing in knitting forums like it’s the French resistance. Good. It’s about time they stopped bringing white papers to a meme war.

You don’t beat Trump with decorum. You beat him with disruption, receipts, and a damn good microphone.
