I am sure Congress will sincerely appreciate your reference to them as "lawmakers", which infers those who create legislation. Precious little of that has happened for an entire year.
I read a quote somewhere in the last couple days, attributed to a Republican Congressman who remained anonymous, that said Congresspeople are feeling like "potted plants". Hmm. If the pot fits...
I refuse to let Joe squash my fantasy of a mid-session powershift in Congress. While I doubt any one Republican would ever let themselves be the straw that broke the camel's back, I could see a half dozen or so making a pact that they're all leaving together. It'd be like a firing squad where one shooter always has a blank, allowing all the shooters to believe that they're the one who fired a blank.
Actually, I think if Dems were to take the house before the midterms, it might be less beneficial. By starting the Trump oversight process the election could effectively put Trump on the ballot and increase GOP turnout. Trump voters need to be so turned off by the GOP infighting that they stay home and don’t vote.
That puts a whole new spin on it. While I was lamenting Joe's rational take on Dems getting the House back before the mid-terms, I've done an about face. Whatever we need to change the trajectory of the country, thats what I want to do.
Congressional Republicans passed the BBB which cut Medicaid, SNAP, the ACA, funded ICE. The one thing they did other than cede Article 1 powers to Trump. Lied for Trump, protected Trump. Republicans nominated Trump for the presidency 3 times in a row. Supported his big lie. Supported his violent insurrection and attempted coup, Project 2025, and his white supremacy.
Not impressed that they are bailing out after 10ish years of Trump.
Whoever curates the "casualty list" would do well to add asterisks to identify the "Sedition Caucus" — senators & representatives who voted against certifying Biden electors on January 6th, 2021. Double-daggers, perhaps, for those who so-voted even after the Insurrection had been put down.
Here's looking at you, Andy Biggs... and Barry Moore... and MTG... and Chip Roy... and...
Nick Adams our Australian national who has been a US citizen for less than 5 years and scheduled to be an ambassador. He has Thanksgiving plans only if some of his rich grifter friends invite him over and risk exposing him to their children. Of course he might be invited to the Mar-a-Lago buffet. As a conservative INCEL "Alpha" male and both unmarried and childless (the counterpart to the classic liberal unmarried cat lady of JD Vance's imagination) it is highly unlikely he will be hosting others in his rambling mansion.
The turkey post is a cry for help. Clearly, Adams was so distraught after learning that Hooters doesn't serve Thanksgiving dinner, he decided to torch his own home.

I don’t think they passed much of anything last year either. Chip Roy had a meltdown on the floor. https://newrepublic.com/post/176957/republican-congressman-chip-roy-melt-down-republican-party-not-doing-much
" Still Blaming Mitch". Ha, ha, ha! Great name. He was horrible.

Except of course tax cuts for the wealthy
Amen, sister.

great point

So that unnamed GOP congressman thinks White House treats everyone like dirt. Well welcome to earth! DJT treats anyone like dirt. Even former minions.
Hooter Boy Nick placing himself in the running for annual Darwin Awards?
He’ll win if he starts the fire!
“the Grim Reaper’s lobbying efforts” Joe please 😂 this line should not have been that funny
But it was!
Great content, excellent writing, perfect combination of information with sweet irony to make it all as palatable as it can get.
My esoteric Straussian reading of Adams’s tweet : he’s just a DICK, and thinks he’s funny. But he’s a dick.
Carry on.

It makes me crazy that these idiots represent us in the world.
Regarding the photo from Nick Adams: I believe it has something to do with Elon Musk’s desire to colonize Mars, don’t ask me to explain how.
I am sad and annoyed that Nick Adams used my kitchen/turkey set-up for his photo op.

I hope to God that asshole doesn't own any cats. Or dogs. 0r any creatures. He's a creep.
Signing your soul over to a geriatric sociopath is not what it used to be!

I'm surprised he eats turkey. I'd expect him to be deep frying a side of beef.
