Thank you for helping to keep so many of us sane. You helped the folks who looked up one day and realized so many of their friends, family, and political party had become unrecognizable almost overnight. Reminding all of us that we were not the crazy ones was such a subtle but important part of the Bulwark. It was daily gift for me. Thank you Charlie.
I miss your voice Charlie. You were an anchor for me every day during this medieval time. Thank you for giving us so much of yourself. Blessings on your new journey. 🫶. Really miss you.
I will miss you Charlie Sykes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! for being there every weekday and giving me the information needed to survive this terrible time in our history, and remain hopeful, and not think I'm crazy! You are the reason that I joined the Bulwark. I hope to 'hear' you around soon - and often! Take care my friend. Marsha B
I share in this great sense of loss at Charlie Sykes' departure. I was new to the Bulwark and became a daily listener of Charlie's podcast. Here's the thing: As a lifelong Democrat, I was a bit surprised to find this my very favorite listen. And if Charlie's Republican Party ever comes back into existence, he might just convert me! Thank you, Charlie. You are a gift and a treasure. Billy Dreskin
I am bereft. This is heartbreaking. Beyond heartbreaking. The world is hard enough to navigate, difficult enough to manage, without Charlie Sykes to soften the blow. I cannot tell you how much I will miss the thoughtful--might I say brilliant--podcasts...not to mention the sly humor that sneaks in regularly. No one can match Charlie. No one. And to think, a mere 8 years ago I would never have been caught dead listening to his radio show. The world is sliced differently now.....and in some ways that is a good thing. Right and left mean less now than decent and indecent. And Charlie Sykes is one decent, decent human being. I completely understand wanting, NEEDING, to get off the hamster wheel of crazy. Frankly, I'm amazed at how anyone can wade into the muck day after day. But, I can't help it, I've fallen in love with Charlie Sykes and all I can think is "hamster wheel, schmamster wheel!! Stay with us, Charlie, for our sakes!!!" And because we love you. It just won't be the same without you, no matter what you say.
I count on Dan Rather and Steady along with Charlie on Bulwark for sanity in that insane sea of lies and traitorous actions. I have wondered how political journalists were surviving mentally and emotionally in all the tirades that they have to review in order to report to the rest of us. I think Dan Rather got it right with 'Steady' and the crew at the Bulwark with their commentaries. I don't blame Charlie for feeling like he has to slow it down in order to not totally flame out during this time -- as a consumer of this news all day long as a retired senior, I have felt the pressure because it seems relentless now. BUT, that is the ploy -- Putin and tRump: Wait'em out. Whether it be the Ukraine or in American politics. Wait'em out -- those democratic supporters will get tired and surrender. WELL, we cannot surrender just some of us get tired --- white the tired back off and re-energize, others MUST keep up the vigorous fight until there are no longer "tired" anymore, but only energized and fighting. MORAL Winners in this world, NEVER QUIT.
Even though I hate to see you leave the Bulwark, I am so grateful for what you have done and continue to do. For so many of us, you have help give a voice to those of us who are rational Republicans. So many times when I read and/or heard you, I said to myself, "Yes, yes, yes!! That's exactly how I feel!" Wishing you all the best, and I look foward to hearing/reading your wisdom on MSNBC.
I really hate to see you go! So thankful that you founded The Bulwark. As a loyal Democrat, I needed to hear from sane and thoughtful people about what we can do to combat Trump and trumpism. I too have been overwhelmed with the crap coming out of Washington so much so, that I stopped listening to the podcasts. there is just so much terrble news I can hear! Trump is awful end of story, should not be President again. I don't need to hear anymore! I am a loyal watcher of MSNBC so i hope to see you there and hear your wisdom.
Dear Charlie. Thank you for founding The Bulwark and always being the voice of reason and common sense. I'm an independent leaning towards Democrat and I would never have listened to your radio show but I always found your comments so practical when I saw you on MSNBC and that led me to The Bulwark.
I will miss your daily insights here but I'm so glad you will still be on MSNBC. The world needs Republicans like you and Michael Steele to speak the truth.
Eli, don't let your dad get too wrapped up in the daily 'crazy' now that he is stepping back. I do hope you have many more walks mid-day than you've had in the past!
You are a smart and good man, Charlie Sykes! Thank you for everything you do!
Charlie, as much as I am going to miss "morning shots" , I am glad you are getting out with your sanity mostly intact . I look forward to seeing you on msnbc .
I will miss your daily insights greatly. As you and Tom Nichols discussed, the Bulwark helped verify we are not the crazy ones. I look forward to reading your future pieces in the next stage of your career.
You will be so sorely missed Charlie. Listening to your show is a daily pleasure for me; your heart, soul and fantastic insight mixed with a wonderful sense of humor cuts through the white noise of "the crazy" and helps keep us sane ! I can only imagine how draining is is to watch this train wreck day after day... Proud of you for taking care of yourself. And when and if you are ready to come back or pop up anywhere, we'll be there ready for our dose of dear Charlie. Take good care!
The Bulwark won't be the same without you! I will miss your column and your voice in this era of craziness. Be well and hopefully we will hear a lot more from you, albeit at less frequent intervals. Thank you. Doreen
Your podcast has been one of my favorites since I discovered it a year ago or so. I've really appreciated your dark sense of humor and eloquent outrage in the face of this authoritarian turning point in American political history. I'm a (pragmatic) liberal Democrat and I'm going to miss your voice. Thanks for everything and take good care! Sincerely, Steve
