Still, Tuberville was adamant that there had been something foul-smelling at play. “I don’t think they’d arrest people just to be arrested,” he told me. HAHAHA, of course, Tommy, bringing charges against people for no reason is something no one in this administration would ever consider. Perish the thought. 🙄

This guy seems way too dumb to have been a college football coach. But his IQ aligns perfectly with the median Repub politician.

A thousand “likes”!!!

Well, in one respect Tommy T was right. But that foul smell was emissions from the Oval Office.

I've been selling stuff for almost 50 years. When somebody does a job like this there's ALWAYS a warranty clause in the agreement for defects for a given time, typically a year. Seeing how this didn't make it past 90 days before it all started coming apart, WTF are we PAYING FOR IT TWICE?

rlritt's avatar

I believe the contractor is a friend of Trump's. Isn't 14 million dollars a lot of money for painting a pool?

Jeanne Golliher's avatar

Wouldn't his insistence that there was vandalism negate the warranty, if he got one? I'm not saying that's the only reason he’s spreading that lie, but protecting his cartoon villain donors is likely a factor.

Jim Taylor's avatar

Perhaps. I wonder what it was like getting warranty work done on a multi-million dollar TrumpTowers Condo? I bet he had an entire schtick set up for shoving that off to the buyer.

Without knowing or understanding, Mike Lee is by far the biggest congressional enemy of healthy rural economies, especially in the West. Tourism and outdoor recreation of all sorts drive these economies, noticeably in counties that have access to protected lands, like national parks, national monuments, designated wilderness & other protected areas, larger sized state parks, natural features, and federal pubic lands in general (source: Headwaters Economics, Bozeman MT).

The traditional extractive industries like mining, oil & gas, logging, along with livestock grazing, don't provide the amount of well paying jobs that tourism & recreation provide. I recall a comment some years ago about the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument made by an outfitter based in nearby Boulder, Utah: "the Monument isn't part of our economy. It IS our economy."

Coach Tuberville must have forgotten these parts of Alabama history regarding wrongful arrest:

The Scottsboro Boys (1931): Nine Black teenagers were falsely accused of raping two white women in Alabama. Despite contradictory medical evidence and an accuser's retraction, they faced sham trials by all-white juries and decades in prison. This landmark case led to major U.S. Supreme Court rulings on defendants' right to counsel and the illegality of excluding Black citizens from juries.

Walter "Johnny D" McMillian (1987): A Black man was falsely convicted of capital murder and spent 15 months on death row before his trial. He was sentenced to life without parole after the prosecution illegally suppressed evidence and pressured witnesses to lie. He was fully exonerated in 1993.

Plenty more where those came from:

Why would he know Alabama history? He's from Arkansas and lives in Florida.

When Republicans are in charge, they spend like drunken Democrats!

rlritt's avatar

Thats the funny part. Democrats spend less than Republicans always. The difference is the Democrats spend money to benefit citizens . The Republicans spend money on helping cronies and some big, old, fat guy who throws temper tantrums like a 3 year old.

Huh, I did not expect basic pool maintenance to be such a major qualification for whether or not somebody is fit for the office of the President of the United States.

I thought Trumpelstein would have the Best Pools. Guess not.

Asked about Lee’s posting habits, Thune told a reporter on Tuesday, “It’s his prerogative to communicate how he wants to communicate. But at the end of the day, I have to deal with reality. And sometimes the alternate universe that is X doesn’t reflect the facts on the ground.”

Or facts at all? Mike Lee is a bad joke.

I wouldn’t put stock in anything Tommy (I live in Florida but represent Alabama in the senate) says. His qualifications? Coach. The south considers coaches to be gods so I guess they don’t care if he doesn’t live where he says he lives. If Alabama elects him as governor, they will certify how ignorant they are. But then he will be out of the senate, and that’s a good thing for the rest of us.

I loved the comment that Republicans forget about conservative policies when in power. Reagan blew up the Federal Debt when he expanded the military. Talked about a balanced budget yet never sent one to Congress. Bush 43 took the surplus that was earmarked to paying down the debt, and gave most of it to the wealthiest Americans, then engaged us in two wars which were never in the budgets. Felon Trump put $4t into the National Debt in 4 years, the first since anyone was keeping track, and now he’s s brought the debt up to $40t and he has 2.5 years to go. Selective amnesia. Goes away when Democrats are in office so the Republicans, ever the victims, can complain about those social programs.

Tubberville: “The people, they need to be arrested and jailed and throw the key away,” he said.

Life Imprisonment for imaginary vandals!

rlritt's avatar

What a total sadistic asshole.

Natalie Brugman's avatar

I am so angry at the Republican Congress and particularly at Tubberville, Graham, Johnson and the like. Guillotine angry. THEY are the ones who should be jailed for their corruption - stealing tax payer dollars and spreading corrupt lies. I hope they rot in hell with their pedophile leader. Damn you ALL.

There are miles of distance between the support people Trump considers his real friends get compared to political friends. This guy who got the pool contract is one of the President's "good ole boys" from greater NY. Trump will pay him our money because they go way back and probably share skeletons in a joint closet. Post-presidency friends get support until they fail, then the President pretends he's never heard of them.

It's an under-investigated phenomena.

It's good to see Tuberville on the frontlines here. After all his life's work was enticing 18yr olds to play ball for him in exchange for a college degree. He was enriched. Hundreds (Tens?) of kids who had no other way to access higher education got a college degree. Win win. I'm sure of it.
