Oh my God, are we in trouble if the Republican Party prevails in government! I sure hope Independents and Democrats vote strong because this Country is screwed with people who are supposed to represent the People but don’t bother to read.

Grassley is from another epoch.

He needs to do whatever it takes to do his damn job and if it means to read tweets and not only secondary resources, it's his effin' job - DO IT OLD MAN. Can't keep up with technology, then leave. And all those other clowns who say they don't read them are just downright lying. Their phones are their second favorite appendage.

Grassley, who is now 89 years old will be 95 when his 8th term is done: “I haven’t read it at all. I’m not a legal analyst. I’m gonna leave that to the professionals to tell us about it. I’ve read everything I can of secondary sources of it, but not the original.” Dumbass. Remember Barr's Mueller BS? Can't you 'legally analyze' the indictment?

I can understand the GOP choosing the ignorant and idiot population to get votes. They can’t really win with smart caring people. Of course that leads to electing idiots. Go figure

These people are pro Russian fascists, and what they want for America is gangster regime with a figurehead strongman — a populist professional wrestling Pinochet, Franco, or Batista—to distract the populace while they loot and pillage the nation.

I can't even listen to or read the comments of these fools anymore. They have no shame. They will defend anything and they will contort reality to explain why their new interpretation is correct. They are lawless thugs and they are a danger to our republic. The sooner we vote these fools out of office the better off we will be.

The person who tried to weaponize the power of the presidency to derail a political opponent was Trump, when he withheld weapons shipments to Ukraine in an attempt to extort President Zelenskyy to fabricate accusations against Biden.

If there was ever an example as to why there should be term limits... THIS IS IT. Retire already Chuck, if this is all you have to do and you don’t want to be bothered and all the other stupid comments you have been making... more sickness in the GOP unbelievable and disgusting to say the least.

Maybe suggest to all these so-busy lawmakers that there is a free audio copy of the indictment that will take less than an hour of their precious time available on the Bulwark.com.

J D Vance? Calling attention to himself by blocking all of Biden’s judicial business? What a waste of space this guy is! He should go back to writing books. Maybe his previous books should be removed from library book shelves? Blocked from sales and circulation?

There’s a bit of sad humor, watching Republicans squirm. I think they are suffering from an ironic version of the “sunk cost fallacy”; they already sold their self respect, knowing full well who they were dealing with, so they can’t back off now! They invested their whole stash.

except for the problem that this is a president of the United States.

Ah Ted, exactly how many Presidents do you think the United States has? This is the same thing that made Gym Jordan's rant about Navy vs. Egan so, well silly. There is only one 1 President of the United States and that is Joe Biden. One Donald John Trump as the indictment read, is a private citizen residing in the state of FL. Whatever elected office he once held confers NO residual power of any kind. As for the republicans not reading the indictment, as long as they don't read it they can keep making stupid statements like desantis did, but "Hillary"

Yeah, all those originalists need to get out the Constitution they haven't read and find the powers and duties of former POTII (English is a weird language, and this is indeed the correct plural).

Reading it won’t stop them from “but Hillary”. Nikki Haley’s recent change of tone might be on account of her husband having a little chat with her prior to his leaving (as she reported he was).

I mean... who would expect a guy who’s been chair of the Judiciary Committee to actually understand the law? Obviously that’s just too much actual knowledge.

More seriously, I’m not a professional legal analyst, either, but I can read a speaking indictment that’s clearly intended to answer average people’s questions about what’s wrong with Trump’s actions here. Pretty much all of the excuses I see for why Trump shouldn’t be charged completely avoid addressing the actual facts in their efforts to move the goalposts.
