It’s really cold here in Shanghai, but never any snow speak of. This afternoon my Democrats Abroad group is gathering at a local spot to watch the first installment of the Ken Burns’ documentary. I’ll share the Martina ad with them too.
Without a doubt, my favorite winter tradition is my "almost" annual Festivus celebration at my best friend's. There is no airing of grievances or feat of strength, but rewatching episodes plus delicacies featured on the show.

What's evolved into being my favorite holiday tradition happens today in my neighborhood. The local public school has a homemade holiday market; local businesses host local artists and crafters for a holiday shop hop; and it all culminates in our annual luminaria.
If all goes well I'll be having lunch at The Gas Light with my grandson; we shopped for small presents for his family last year and it was lots of fun.
The expected 3-5 inches of snow slated to start falling this afternoon may curtail some or all of these activities.
Decline is a choice and that's what he chose. He could have sat all of this out and come back unscathed (though that's cowardly but better than what he ultimately chose to become.)
My Winter Hack: On YouTube there are hours and hours of "cab view" train rides across Europe. The ones from Switzerland are the best, IMO. The Swiss have been managing winter and making the best of it for millennia. Make hot chocolate, stiffen with brandy or rum, and head to the Bernina Pass. :)
In 2025 Donald is 7-0 in cases decided by his court (the Supreme Court of Donald or SCOD), so my prediction is that his folks on the court will give him what he wants in order to further strengthen the fascist state.
