And Sam, you did just fine. All these complaints re: interrupting are a bit much. (I’m fine with it when you’re being hassled during the “Fingering Crew” episodes…)
General Hertling is such a great addition to the Bulwark - especially now. He is so easy to understand, plain talk, and the experience for credibility. also humble enough to say he is learning from his other armed forces sources like the Navy, recognizing his own limits.
Remember the hatred that so many in the Republican party and the MAGA base have for expertise?? Listening to Mark Hertling speak makes me understand a) how valuable and informative it is to have something explained to one by an expert, and b) just why the Republican party and in particular the White House fear experts. Clarity is not the name of their game, the opposite is what they need to keep their lies being listened to. Understanding must be to them like a crucifix held up to a vampire. Keep up the great work, General.
Who stood to gain the most from Maduro’s removal? Who was in charge of the Venezuelan secret police ? Who was in a position to advise the US as to Maduro’s whereabouts? Who was in the best position to ensure the highest likelihood of success? The answer is one person: Delcy Rodriguez.
Mark was trying to explain the Greenland thing is a distraction and then you cut him off to rant about minerals. Was hoping to hear his opinion fleshed out more.
I'd love to know Gen. Hertling's take on how the military leadership culture would likely respond to being ordered to attack Greenland, as a NATO ally. Would we be likely to see more high-profile resignations like Adm. Holsey's at SOUTHCOM?
