Good thing that all of the Bulwarkers soent so much time whining about cancel culture and the non-existent defund the police movement. Now they sit around wondering what happened. Sykes likes to talk about tough love for democrats. Maybe he should accept some. He helped create this mess so I would suggest a bit more introspection.

Welcome back Charlie. Hope your vacation was great. Time away is so important. It reminds us all to "step away " every now and then. It will all be here when we get back.

The Bukwark team did a wonderful job leading discussions and causing us to think.

Really enjoying Will Saletan's program on L Graham. Wow. Great job!

I don't know, I think that at least in some other Latin countries women don't change their last name when they get married.

Re being so worried about Biden….what do you make of his quite astonishing fundraising? Apparently 1/3 of the 70+ million are from new donors since 2020…..surely that means something?

Also if a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris then surely a vote for Trump is a vote for Kari Lake (or insert other deranged Maga VP here).

Everyone did an excellent job filling in, Charlie, but two weeks without your podcast feels like eternity.

I love Charlie and the Bulwark, but for alll of your anti Kamala screeds, were you equally as opposed to Dan Quayle?

Interesting that there is so much disdain for Harris , how about the 4 yrs with dump ? Pence was little more than a mannequin propped up in a corner of the room....

For a laugh, the good kind, and an absolutely fantastic campaign ad for Joe Biden given by the totally clueless Marjorie Taylor Greene, check this out: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/7/17/2181834/-HAH-President-Biden-Trolls-Marjorie-Taylor-Greene-s-Hysterically-Lame-Swipe-at-Democratic-Successes, courtesy of the Lincoln Project. She really is a complete nutcase; even worse are the people who listen to her (looking at you, Kevin!).

On: "in Arizona, College Republicans platform an actual neo-Nazi."

Trump youth: rise! Just like Hitler Youth did. Glad to see that for these whipper-snapping autocrat wannabees, insanity comes naturally

You’re right, Carol. But more to the point, their beliefs are impenetrable on a Much more base level. Their MAGA beliefs have pretty much supplanted even their lifelong religious beliefs. Hence their new, “faith” requires believing the unseen and ignoring whatever happens to wind up in their laps or in front of their faces. It is beyond disconcerting. It is horrifying. I honestly was shaken for days after their departure and have been given a very small slice of what it must have been like in Germany in the mid to late ‘30’s. It was shocking! I spent most of my life serving as an advocate on behalf of a bargaining unit in the Federal sector and have great experience dealing & bargaining with folks who would stick to untenable positions because that was what their superiors mandated. But they would acknowledge in subtle ways that they ‘knew what they were shoveling’. They didn’t need to smell it to know what it smelled like. That is a completely different experience from interacting wit those that simply refuse to acknowledge simple facts (i.e., reality) in order to retain their construct….

Trump (and DeSantis) Republicans are all de facto neo-Nazis. It's irresponsible to pretend otherwise.

In the good news category: "BREAKING NEWS [NYT] Michigan announced felony charges against 16 people in connection with a false elector scheme to overturn Donald Trump’s election loss in 2020. Tuesday, July 18, 2023 4:49 PM ET Each of the 16 defendants has been charged with eight felony counts, including forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery. Those charged include Meshawn Maddock, a Trump ally and the co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party at the time."

It's about time!
