Pound for pound, the media treats Trump better than any Democrat. Plus, talking about abortion in a way that wins the most votes, NPR and identity politics, Biden gets too little credit for bipartisan deals, and the first big sign of softening support for Israel on the populist right.
Is the time-compression that makes these podcasts almost unlistenable applied by the software on my phone, or to a recording (I have no idea how podcasts are stored), or by a server? Its effect on the intro music is comical.
Tim is doing great! As a former ‘moderate’ Republican (and office holder), I would be interested in plans to resurrect the ‘real’ GOP! I don’t hear, discussion of that, but maybe that makes sense, to approach the issue after dealing the Maga hats a crippling defeat this November
I usually love the Bulwark comments section - characterized by generosity and empathy, for the most part. But something about Chait brings out the most ungenerous in commenters, even here. Bizarre.
Thanks to Tim for the expose on William Claude Jones (the woman-abusing author of the contentious 1864 AZ territorial abortion law). How can it be that in the 21st century, we permit reinstatement of an arcane law put forward by such a creep?!
I struggle with this ambivalance about OJ. I was a teen age fan. I had to watch every Buffalo game. He was a magnificent running back. And then we grow up to the reality that our heroes can be deeply flawed.
Did I hear you say you feel guilty about being “pro life?” Do you think women who seek an abortion can’t also be pro life?
You sound like you’ve got a pretty superior attitude. I am Roman Catholic. I’m “pro-life,” not just pro birth. I don’t for a moment think that women who feel like they must seek an abortion right here and right now wish they didn’t have to.
Have I got this wrong? Maybe you’ve got something “pedogologically” wrong….whatever Pedagological means, but your word, not mine. It sounds dangerously Holly Golightly-like.
Note to Jonathan Chait: no, even in most "Latin American countries", the people don't appreciate the military overthrowing the government in the 21st Century, either.
One being anti-Biden because one is anti the anti-Biden leftists is contradictory, mostly. Some believe Biden is placating them, perhaps to get them to back off on the insults. He needs to take off the kid gloves and excoriate them, like I've been yammering about for months.
On the OJ clip: I do think since we are more able to discuss intelligently where our racist tendencies still lie, with the undeniable display of racism recorded on witness telephones, a bad verdict like so many people feel the OJ trial had is less likely to occur. We do have a long way to go in everyone understanding the racism that remains in ourselves. Hope everyone can get there.
Kudos for the outro choice. Extra credit would have been given for the Maren Morris solo version

I so appreciate the solid no-nonsense reporting that both Tim + Jonathan bring to us. Making Charlie proud!

More dunking on Rich Lowry, please.

So Tim and Jon believe women should be able to get abortions but they should feel bad and ashamed while doing so?

I looked up when OJ left the nfl—1978

Thanks for the music choices
