I was a symphony player for 40 years, in three American orchestras, Cleveland, Detroit, and Boston. The world of classical music in the US is a small one, with the 20 or so major orchestras (which does not include Knoxville BTW) employ as players about 2000 people, not much more than those playing professional football. And since personnel ,especially at the less than top-level, tends to move around, word travels at light-speed about personalities and incidents. Since professional music performance requires split second timing and absolute mutual trust (which is why it has been compared to military combat) someone who is a great player but a disruptive personality will usually not be hired however great his/her audition. Indeed, as the music director of a semi-pro group in Montgomery County PA I had to "encourage" a very good double-bass player to depart because he made his colleagues miserable with his tactless egotism. It sounds very much to me that this clarinet player was cut from that cloth and has no case --- but in the strange land of distorted values that we now inhabit nothing is sure.

I have a question. Of all of the oil seized from VZ, who processed it? Is it from a VZ state-controlled company, or is the WH Decorator stealing from Chevron (a U.S. company)?

I haven’t heard or read one single peep, tweet, or comment from legacy media or independent media…zip, zed, zero.

No newsletter from Will for a couple of weeks. I hope he hasn't left The Bulwark. What will we do without his good-natured reporting on the crazies?

Not the point, but I'm a little shocked that the State Department still has a Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. That seems like something that would have been eliminated in the first round of DOGE cuts.

"Fans"... that kind of says it all, now, doesn't it?

Actually, the Broligarchs are toppling the US government for the country's resources.

It's just all being studiously ignored!

Fantastic news! The White House having no doubt lined up Fuentes in advance, and his base overwhelmingly tells him what he can do with it.

And possibly the best part is that these are the sort of stats Trump gives the most of his valuable personal attention. (Not every swallow a spring, but still ...)

As an opera chorister with a 20+ year history of performing in Knoxville, I am quite familiar with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and can attest that they are a fine organization with the highest personal and professional standards. They are also overwhelmingly white, so the idea that they are turning to DEI hires is laughable. I will be attending a performance of theirs this wekeend, and I now dread what MAGA morons might show up to cause trouble.

This kind of stuff is truly fascinating.

take the oil goes way back. MAGA only hates foreign adventures where we get ripped off trying to promote democracy or establish stability. Pure smash and grab to flex power and take control of resources, money, power...punish our enemies. That was there from the very first Trump rallies

Thanks for the report about the clarinet audition. Orchestra auditions are not something the general public knows much about - and certainly Harmeet Dhillon wouldn't, either, unless she was a seriously talented instrumentalist in an earlier life. Mr. Zimmerman is claiming discrimination and DEI because they hired the runner up - who I understand to be an Asian woman. But anyone who know the music business at all knows 1) auditions are highly subjective and 2) a lot of the candidates - and there could have been dozens - are qualified for the job.

If a White man had been selected in his place, he wouldn't be able to argue "DEI." And he appears to be active in MAGA social-media circles. So I appreciate that he wants the job and is qualified for it, but the Knoxville decision seems to be more a case that his reputation as a toxic employee precedes him and they don't want to deal with it.

for those of us who don't regularly follow nick fuentes (thanks for doing it so we don't have to, will!), it would be helpful to know what the ratio usually is of negative to positive response on a typical post... will, can you clarify this?

i ask because i'm looking at the 5.55K negative response, and yet the positive responses, when added up, make it look like almost an even split. so that means a LOT of groypers are still on board with the whole "let's take over the whole hemisphere" vibe.

So first we "find out" Nick Fuentes is a VIRGIN (InCel to his pathetic core) and now "America First" is just a con man's slogan to get elected by the dumbest or most craven/bigoted part of America? I mean...so shocked <eyeroll>.

There is a large percentage of MAGA that grew up with a hate for Putin, communism and the KGB playbook - killing adversaries on the other end of the world, poison, taking Ukraine property - or Venezuela or Greenland. Even the RINO's want peace, ethics, ethical leadership and the EU allies. MAGA is no longer Trump's main support - his main support comes from ,it is the richest, the media he has corrupted the lawyers he has challenged or paid off, a corrupt Congress full of pedophiles and insurrectionists, a corrupt SCOTUS, and Leonard Leo's Federalist Society of unethical lawyers. Many of these people took oaths but are spineless. We don't want a Putin or to live the quality of life Russia has. Our justice system employees and lawyers need to take a stand - maybe our Dr.'s and CPA's too. Maybe Switzerland can have Rolex give all of Congress our major law firms and SCOTUS a special gift as they did Trump? Thomas is an easy mark.
