Re the DNC: I thought at the time that the WI state leader might have been a better pick because of all he had done in the hostile environment of Wisconsin. But it's still early. Mostly, I've been really disappointed in David Hogg. Why is it that so many people in politics and journalism get an undergrad degree from Harvard and then they think they can rule the world? The kid should have gone to law school or political science or public policy first to deepen his knowledge and test his ideas. But no. He had to go start his own NPO. Then, when he attains a coveted spot on the DNC he pushes an aggressive plan to primary people over a certain age...and instead of just floating the idea to sow the seed, he continues to push it. Heck, even brainiac Hilary Clinton, when she first came to the Senate, kept her head down and learned the ropes before she ever started publicly talking and advocating. I always admired her for that. It shows appropriate humility and the ability to "read the room."

Little Marco loves cosplaying what he isn't, just like Agent Orange.

I was posting about a surgical biopsy several days ago. No cancer. Still recovering from the surgery, though, so no comment.

THERES an interview out of a 24 yo Australian man who came to the US on a tourist visa. He was taken into a separate room and his phone demanded of him. He was told that if he didn’t give them the password he’d be on the next flight back to Melbourne. His social media included some mild, nonviolent criticisms of Trump. He was held for hours and sent back to Australia.

THIS is what this social media demand is all about. They’re keeping out anyone who criticizes Trump. Next stop: deportation of U.S. citizens whose social media reflects this. It has NOTHING to do with national security and everything to do with reshaping the population by color and ideology.

Don’t we just LOVE how they so brashly talk about “free speech”?

RE: the first article...

If Marco Rubio has declared student immigrants' online history will be reviewed for the litany of listed things they may have written about, seems it's only a matter of (short) time before that same standard will imposed on US citizens.

The digital brownshirts are here.

Evidently, we can't have a functioning IRS (Lord, wealthy tax cheats need a break!), but foreign students need to have their every social media pronouncement poured over by forensic auditors!

Trump is building a workforce. Out with the old, gotta replace them with upgraded models that pledge allegiance to their savior. This guy has no soul. He needs to be tackled. He believes he’s still a tv star first. Care about anyone second president.

I grew up in the 1960s watching how American kids and Vietnamese kids were killing each other and was told there was a greater good.

I watched the almost daily riots in urban ghettos and was told, 'why do these people do this to themselves."

I've watched politicians self-agrandize themselves and their Wall Street fat cat donators, getting away with financial abuse.

So, when MAGAts get the short-end of the sheet-stick, I just don't say, it's the same-old-same-old...

I SAY HALLELUJAH!!!!

About time the self-victimhood MAGAts pay the price for their ignorant, selfishness. FUQUE THEM...pay the price assholes.

Ha—love this: they are going to “identify applicants who bear hostile attitudes toward our citizens, culture, government, institutions, or founding principles.” Why don’t you take a look in the mirror first, hypocrites.

I wonder if comments criticizing Putin will now be considered to be anti-Trump or anti-American.

Why only antisemitism? What about potential students whose posts include Islamophobia? Racism? Misogyny? Why aren’t those dealbreakers? I don’t trust our govt to properly identify disqualifying content, but it’s classic of the Trumpers to limit it to just antisemitism.

Maybe we need to hire Michael Steele for DNC because whatever is happening over there is not good now or for the future.

This anti-semitism thing is such BS. They'll stop someone from entering the US who "perpetrate(s) unlawful antisemitic harassment or violence" but do nothing about American citizens who do the same.

"All applicants will now be obliged to make their social media accounts public 'to be scrutinized for hostility toward the United States.'”

Yes, because MAGA social media, Trump on down, is so loving and peaceful towards our country.

Retired academic and associate dean in a business school here. Over my career, I taught, advised and helped thousands of foreign students who were pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. I know that the vast majority of these students want to succeed, and many would like to remain in the US to pursue their careers, and live their lives. They wanted work experience in the US and our undergraduate business program required a semester internship. They faced an uphill battle to get a full-time job and a chance to work towards a green card, but many were willing to do just that. The majority are very hard working because they don't want to lose their visas and return home in shame. International students on a student visa have to prove they can afford all the tuition and fees necessary for their degree, and they pay full rate - no discounts, no scholarships. They want to get to know Americans, our food, our social and artistic cultures, and our work cultures. The school I was at the longest had International Day every year, organized by our International Center. It was filled with local restaurants serving international food. For one very reasonable price, you went from table to table sampling food. There were also musicians from different cultures, with different types of music, students dressed in traditional clothes, and dancing. I attended and brought my daughter every year. It was fantastic. I never have, and never will, understand such hatred.
