I'm old enough to remember Bachmann all too well. Blech.

Me, too. Ugh. Too bad she wasn't the one-off she seemed to be. Now, her way-out-there shtick is just the way things are done in Washington by the MAGAs.

Her "affliction" has certainly spread widely; one could say "it went viral" in certain segments of the population.

Didn’t she also claim to be a witch, or someone accused her of it?

That was Christine O'Donnell from Delaware. She was a Tea Party person who said "I 'm not a witch." in a tv ad in 2010.

witches are still being superstitiously maligned ? after all that burning in before-days? instead of being given the credits of what they were – besides being maligned & attacked as 'christian heretics' ?

and other anti-trumpists are also promoting the same words as DT does - for also weird reasons - that only he knows - about 'witch-hunts' -

tho doubt he claims to be a witch. who else knows why all is blamed on witches & their crafts, wisdoms, healing practices, herbal recipes, etc. ?

why repeat what prez says to defend himself - as if he were only being persecuted for his beliefs ? and practices ”

Thank you! I was a little late to the party and was surprised that Perticone didn't mention him as Bachmann's lasting legacy in Washington DC.

According to his wikipedia biography page, Stephen Miller's first job out of Duke University was as Michelle Bachmann's press secretary.

I was surprised too, Mark. When I saw an article about the where-did-she-go Bachmann, Miller was my first thought.

FWIW, I _remembered_ this fact. Citing wiki was only for confirmation of my memory. "It's a gift," my friends tell me. "Not always," I reply.

Thank you Joe for keeping Epstein in your reporting. I’m relieved to know that the case is still on Congressional radar, and all the better that it’s bipartisan - for now. How soon before MAGA/GOP close ranks without any daylight.

Skin me alive and call me luggage. That quote from Boehner about Bachmann having 'all the power now' is damn near apocryphal.

You might say Boehner was prescient, but that really would be giving him too much credit for an awareness of the Republican Party that history does not bear out.

I know for a fact that Donald Trump wrote pornography for children. He wanted to write adult porn, but his writing skills weren't up to adult level. Maxwell intended to use this to pre-groom younger kids. If they liked the story "Handsy Uncle Mushroom," they may be potential recruits in the future.

I can verify this as fact because a guy I know had a dream where Q told him. Since then, I've been hearing it, mostly because I say it. That's probably enough for a jury to convict!

Stern's had a great run. And it's impossible to have the same crazy energy at 60 or 70 that you might've had at 25. I recently looked up old video (> 40 years ago) of Jay Leno guesting on David Letterman's original show. Hysterical, but, like Stern, they're different people now. Stern always has been obviously intelligent, and good for him to go out on his own terms, with an authentic voice.

I use to have Sirius-XM and I'd listen to Stern for the interviews and his and Robin's views on the current news. But when he got on the kick about the dysfunctional "wack pack" I had to turn it off. It was just too cringe to listen to. He's 71 years old and he's had a great run, but now he can at least sleep until a decent hour in the morning.

I remember her too. But, then, I live in Minnesota and am delighted she is no longer here. Maybe one reason she "dropped out," is because her hubby was in deep doo-doo here, with his conversion therapy practice. There was also raging gossip that he was gay himself and she was serving as his "beard." Regarding Epstein, could someone tell my why this video isns't getting more play? Especially since it's sitting right there on YouTube? No doubt there is recorded video lurking somewhere in the FBI files that would put pictures to Katie Johnson's words in her testimony. She must have been scared to death to have dropped her lawsuit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnib-OORRRo

People keep saying why have none of Trump and Epstein's victims spoken out? They have but MSM has ignored them, and when they do speak out they get vicious attacks on social media and death threats.

Expand full comment
Jane Stevenson's avatar

That's right. If you watched the video I shared you can tell Katie Johnson was scared. I hope he paid her a boatload of money and told her to disappear. But this video is in the public sphere and I think it should be shown far and wide. It would open a lot of eyes.

Tim_TEC's avatar

Actually reports are out there that she had a visit from Trump's goons and they threatened her life. It's just like when Stormy Daniels was approached in a Las Vegas parking lot and a Trump goon made threats to her and her daughter. After the Trump goon encounter, Katie withdrew her federal lawsuit.

Jane Stevenson's avatar

I figure that was the case. That doesn't keep this viedwo from being shared far and wide, however. And it's not her speaking out. It is in the public forum.

"Jeffrey Epstein–related stories may be fading from the headlines, but not in the minds of America’s representatives."

If Congress is going to "revive" the story alive at beginning of September, we certainly can do it with posters, demonstrations and whatever else we can in the interim think of to keep THIS story on the front burner, not all of the diversionary nonsense that the Felon pulls out of the other end of his food hole daily. Given the attention span of most voters, hearing about it in September after it "died" during Milquetoast Mike's early recess, will be a "new thing". That would not be good. This is one story line that requires a constant push to the front burner. It is on both sides of my weekly protest sign and will be carried this Thursday.
